Grand Muslim-Tamil Tie Up Soon
The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has expressed hope of finalising the proposed Tamil-Muslim Alliance within the next few weeks.
SLMC’s Deputy Secretary General Nizam Kariapper told The Sunday Leader that the discussions were progressing well between his party, the Tamil National Alliance, People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (Siddharthan faction) and Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (Vartharajah faction).
Kariapper also said that there was a possibility of Mano Ganesan’s Democratic Left Front joining the proposed minority alliance.
“We are also planning to inform TULF President V. Anandasangaree on this new development,” he said.
According to him, the aim of this minority alliance is to pressurise the government into finding speedy solutions to the burning problems faced by the minorities at present, such as resettling the displaced immediately and to block any negative repercussions on the minority communities.
