All Praise To The General

Nimal Weerakkody’s letter in The Sunday Leader of October 25, gives an unbiased view of the historic victory over the terrorists. He gives credit to the JVP and the JHU who insisted on a military victory. In fact the defeat of the UNP regime was on this issue only, which formed the UPFA and Mahinda Chinthanaya. He gives credit to the committee headed by JVP  MP Vijitha Herath and recommends the deportation of NGOs who were supporting the LTTE. Then he gives credit to the village parents who sacrificed their beloved sons and made them join the army.

It was also mentioned that General Sarath Fonseka had appreciated the leadership of the President, for providing funds to purchase arms and recruit soldiers. With regard to providing funds that learned legal luminary, S. L. Gunasekara, had written to another English daily, saying it was the people’s money that went for the purchase of arms and ammunitions.

General Sarath Fonseka, your name will go down in history for leading a valiant army to eradicate the terrorists and bring Mother Lanka under one flag. Your vision could only be established if all races are treated alike. Hope this will come true.
