FLUX — Let Music Shake The Earth
Welcome to the doorway to the rest of the world. See exotic dances from South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and the USA, all brought together in Elizabeth Moir School’s irresistible production, FLUX. Experience the beat of Salsa, Hip Hop, Bollywood, Broadway, Korean, Afro-Pop, Electro and more. Enjoy equally diverse music that really does ‘Shake the Earth,’ from the classical brilliance of Chopin to pieces performed by the school’s African and Gospel choirs, to modern music from Greenday and Muse performed by school band, ‘Reverse’.
What is perhaps most impressive is the amount of student involvement, with pupils directing, choreographing and producing the entire show, displaying the amazing talent, commitment and teamwork of the student body. FLUX has the largest cast of any production put on by the school, from veterans of many of their previous successful events to new but equally talented faces. Directors Angeleen Renker and Juhi Subba have choreographed most of the dances as well as having lead role themselves; Producer Sabrina Ghouse maintains the astonishing quality the school is famous for. Meanwhile teacher Mark Thompson, who has sung with choirs in top venues throughout Europe, brings his expertise to the vocal direction, and the directors have also been assisted by Natasha Jayasuriya and Aida Mansoor, the team behind Elizabeth Moir School’s previous sell-out performances.
Running on November 6 and 7 only at the Lionel Wendt Theatre FLUX is sponsored by Lanka Satellite & Cable Company, Survey & Laboratories, Nestle Lanka, Efm and The Sunday Leader.
