Name of Rajapaksa Impersonater Revealed

High ranking officials at the CID revealed the identity of an alleged confidence trickster posing as a relative of the Rajapaksa family. The man’s real name is Jayantha Jude Inos, the official revealed. Inos is a resident of Piliyandala, though he was apprehended in Welimada. He was found with two identity cards, one of them forged.

The forged card identified Inos as Weerathunge Arachchilage Amal Jayantha Rajapaksa, resident of Weerakatiya Road, Tangalle. A forged passport was also found in the man’s possession.

Investigations by the CID revealed that Inos had posed as a relative of the President.

The man had been collecting money from people, promising employment in return. The CID also discovered that the man had used his fake identity for private purposes, claiming to be speaking on behalf of the President.

“For instance, he had called and said power to a particular house had been cut off, requesting it be seen to and adding that he was speaking on behalf of the President,” CID chief Nandana Munasinghe said.
