Student Protest Turns Violent

Protest

A protest staged by a few hundred unemployed university graduates spiraled out of control when their march from the Fort railway station to Temple Trees was halted by riot police near the Hilton Hotel. The students attempted to push aside the barricades and fight with the police. The march was stopped when the police fired water and tear gas at the protesters.

The graduates then sat down on the road opposite the Hilton, refusing to leave until the President agreed to meet them, and proceeded to make several speeches. A few of the protesters suffered minor injuries in the scuffle and had to be taken to hospital.

Some of the roads in the area have been temporarily closed as a result.

  1. Reality

It is not the responsibility of the state to provide employment to citizens but to create the atmosphere where jobs will be genarated. We have a system of free education that makes citizens qualified in fields where they cannot find employment. The politicians need to be more responsible and not promise jobs in the state sector, which has been over crowded for a long time. The voter also should not be so gullible. The educationists in this county need to go back to school.

Atleast the youth have realized they have a massive problem in their path of life. All these years they had a different perspective for the problems of the country. No having realized they are helpless, they will find their own way to succeed. Remember in every failure there is an opportunity.
