Catholic Church And Its Priorities

The proposed visit of a delegation of religious leaders to Europe as reported in the media includes among others Archbishop Rt. Rev. Malcolm Ranjith of the Catholic Church.

There are many Catholics including me, who do not approve of the involvement of the Church in matters outside its ecclesiastical domain.  Many feel that the Church has not shown the interest it should have, as regards the IDPs in the north and the east, media suppression and other flagrant violation of human rights.
Instead this mission to London, Brussels, Paris and Rome is an attempt to whitewash this government and influence the Italian government and the Pope in favour of the Rajapaksa regime.
