Top Police Officers Transferred
By Munza Mushtaq
In two shocking transfers, a top ranking officer at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and a very close relative of General Sarath Fonseka have been transferred, The Sunday Leader learns.
CID Director Ravi Waidyalankara who spearheaded major investigations including those against government politicians has been transferred to the Police Headquarters Crime Division as a director.
Meanwhile, SSP A.S. Munasinghe who functioned as Director of the Ministerial Security Division has been transferred to the Tourist Police Department.
Munasinghe is Fonseka’s brother-in-law.
The Sunday Leader reliably learns that the transfer of Waidyalankara was made after he ordered officers to investigate fraud incidents by several close associates of the President.
“Even though these officers were informed that the transfers were routine, it is obvious the government is trying to get rid of the independent officers and make way for pro-government personnel in time for the election,” a highly placed source said.
It is also learnt that a controversial police officer whose wife was involved in a student assaulting incident, is to be promoted.

I am sure this is the best time for his excellency to order fraud investigations against Fonseka.
OH! MY LANKA
Yes Vift, may be one if any for Fonseka by angry MR. Expect hundreds for Rajapaksa, his relatives and goons by the next peoples’ govt to get back all the money they have stolen from us making our children to pay. These crabs think they have the whole world with them, but they can only be happy until the water starts to warm up and boil. Cheers!
This is the ugly side of Sri Lankan politics.
The Tamil hunter gets hunted now by MR Group. What a turn of events. Looking forward to the events that woudl follow this.
