60% Market Share

A mobile operator claimed that her company commands 60-70% of the new connections currently being made.
Ms. Amali Nanayakkara, C.E.O. Airtel Sri Lanka, speaking at a forum in Colombo on Tuesday said that her company made a record million connections in its first six months of operations upto July.
She however refused to say how many connections her company has got to date.

    She may be referring to the market share of Airtel in India.
    If she is refereeing to Sri Lanka and quoting her figures 1.5 million is 60 – 70% of 10 Million were better get her to rewrite the maths books.

      Reality- the article specifies ‘new’ connections.

      I still don’t hold it any more credible. Airtel was the biggest hoax in the SL telco industry. It drove the indutry down into a hole with rates too low to survive, made a mockery out of Sanga… only to bag 1.5Mn card connections?? ;-)

      My dear, before pointing the finger towards others just make sure you do not have mistakes on your side.Read the article carefully.What it says is that Airtel has share of 60-70% of new connections made in the industy.
