L.G. Singers’ Carols

The L.G.Singers will begin  their Christmas season with an Evening of Carols at Bethel Chapel, Alfred House Gardens, Kollupitiya on December 4 at 7pm. The service will include 16 carols presented by the singers and violin duets by Alexandra and Adriana Castillo. Pastor, Bethel Chapel of the Seventh Day Adventists, Pastor J. Gunasekeran said all are welcome to come and rejoice.

Colombo Theatre Festival 2009

The Lanka Children’s and Youth Theatre Foundation (LCYTF) will present the Colombo Theatre Festival for Young Audiences 2009 (CTFYA) for the fourth time under the theme of Theatre for Education and Reconciliation on December 5 and 6 at the Lionel Wendt. The two plays chosen are Vikurthi (Distortion) by Somalatha Subasinghe and Hari  Apuru Davasak (A Wonderful Day) by Chamika Hathlahawatta. Both plays are national award winners with deep insights into socio cultural issues.

Success In Singapore
a-4Students of Rhythm World Dance Studio competed at the 22nd International Ballroom Dancing Championship held at Suntec City, Singapore, with over 600 competitors  from 22 countries participating. The students were accompanied by Shiromi Perera, their trainer, directress and instructress of Rhythm World Dance Studio. Rustom Yusuf and Roshanthi Nanayakkara won a place in all four dances of the Latin American Section in their category. They were placed third runner up in three dances and fourth runner up in one dance.

‘Milton Unplugged’ With Marians

The melodious songs of the late Milton Mallawarachchi will come alive tonight at Ananda College Hall starting from 7pm.
Presented by DK Promotions together with Old Anandian Sports Club, the much-awaited ‘Milton Unplugged With Marians’ featuring Ranil Mallawarachchi will be the first  and last concert of Mallawarachchi before he migrates to Australia. Tickets are available at Torana Liberty Plaza, Majestic City and Video International 325, Nawala Road, Nawala.

Jubilee Sing-a-long

The 150th Anniversary of the Church of Holy Emmanuel, Moratuwa will include a Sing-a-long with Lankika and The Golden Chimes. The 150th Anniversary Jubilee Sing-a-long will be held on December 1, at the Parish Hall. Tickets are priced at Rs. 300 and are available at the Parish Office, Milk House , and Multi Pharmacy, Moratuwa.

Kurbaan At Concord
a-3EAP Films & Theatres released their film Kurbaan on November 21 at Concord. Directed by debutant director Rensil D’Silva (who co-wrote Rang De Basanti) Kurbaan (also spelt Qurbaan, Qurban or Kurban) is a romantic thriller set against the backdrop of terrorism. The film stars Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza, Kirron Kher and Om Puri.
