More Exports
Dankotuwa developed a new customer and shipped the first container in October to “Zara Home” in Spain.
Zara Home is a specialty home store in Spain. Dankotuwa already supplies to the well known department store “El Corte Ingles” and to several other retailers in Spain, and with this new opening will have a wide portfolio of customers in Spain. The design shipped to Zara Home is a contemporary border design aimed at the “sophisticated” young homemaker.
Zara Home specializes in home furnishings. Its focus is on textiles such as bed, table and bathroom linen, complemented by tableware, cutlery, glassware and decorative items. They offer customers several different decorative atmospheres to choose from: Contemporary, Classic, Colonial, and White. Continuously updating its product range, Zara Home brings the latest fashion trends to home furnishings.
Zara Home also has stores in Portugal, France, Belgium, Netherlands, U.K., Andorra, Italy, Poland, Greece, Romania, Malta, Cyprus, Russia, Turkey, Mexico, Lebanon, Kuwait, U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Oman, Morocco and Egypt.
Zara Home belongs to a group called “Inditex” in Spain. Inditex is one of the world’s largest fashion distributors, with eight sales formats, Zara, Pull and Bear, Massimo, Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho, Zara Home and Uterqüe. Inditext is well armed with 4,430 stores in 73 countries.
The Inditex Group comprises over 100 companies associated with the business of textile design, manufacturing and distribution.
Dankotuwa was chosen because of its whiteness, which is considered to be one of the highest in the world, flexibility in producing small quantities in a variety of designs and its state of the art design development capability.
This year Dankotuwa has been shipping a higher percentage to Europe as a result of the downturn in U.S. orders but still its total exports are less than last year’s.
