Broadband charges

With Sri Lanka’s per capita income now reaching U.S.$ 2,000; consumers will only need to adjust their consumption patterns to enable them to pay for telecoms services, an official said.
Priyantha Kariyapperuma, Director General, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission said this in reply to a question raied by this reporter that villagers are even finding it difficult to allocate a sum of Rs. 50 a month for telecoms services.
This was in the context of the practicality of the Government’s soon to be launched islandwide broadband campaign, on the grounds of poverty in the island, and therefore the question of the feasibility of such a project.
