Engineering degrees

Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College’s (CINEC’s) Engineering Sciences  Faculty provides candidates opportunities to obtain Bachelor of Engineering degrees from Wolverhampton,University U.K (W.U.)or University of Tasmania University, Australia (UTAS).

W.U. offers five BEng. degree programmes that could be completed at CINEC. They are Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design Management and Automotive Systems Engineering respectively.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has accredited all the above courses.

IET says that an IET accredited course is “..mark of quality..” It is this mark of quality that confirms graduates from the above courses possess knowledge to a level that is recognised globally by the engineering and technology community. This provides a sound basis from which to develop a career, and progress to Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

W.U. is a first class university spread over four campuses in the region and situated in the centre of England. The University is amongst the largest in the UK with a student population of over 24,000.

W.U. is recognised as producing world class research and this has been reflected in the recent Government Research Assessment Exercise (R.A.E.) which identified W.U. as producing areas of research that is amongst the best in the world.

UTAS-Australian Maritime College (AMC): UTAS is associated with CINEC as an official partner in offering its BEng programmes at CINEC on a “two-plus-two” basis.
Since 1978 AMC has been an international leader in the provision of training and education to the maritime sector. It sits amongst the top 10 maritime training institutions in the world, has a suite of state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities and attracts an international student cohort that studies across three purpose-built campuses in Australia’s southern-most state, Tasmania. Recently AMC joined forces with one of Australia’s oldest universities to become a UTAS institute. This has allowed AMC to focus on its areas of expertise and also draw upon the University’s resources.

AMC recently signed an agreement with CINEC allowing students to study its courses on a two-plus-two basis, meaning two years at CINEC and two years at AMC. Degrees offered under this arrangement are Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering and Marine and Offshore Systems respectively.

AMC engineering degrees are accredited by Engineers Australia and recognised by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology U.K. and the Royal Institution of Naval Architecture. AMC-trained engineers are highly regarded. The graduate employment rate is 100% and salaries start around AUD $70,000. A reputation for excellence, coupled with an established student work experience programme and strong industry ties means many students find employment before they finish their studies. AMC graduates can be found working in offshore oil and gas, ship building and repair, defence and a number of other related areas.

Students and parents are welcome to visit the CINEC campus at Millennium Drive, IT Park, Malabe, to have an idea of the facilities available in the campus and obtain further information on study programmes.

  1. South Park is a series that much about it because the topics are considered taboo and often turned to derision, but also why we love him so much ^ ^
