Lanka Logistics & Technologies Writes…
We draw your attention to the article published in The Sunday Leader newspaper of 6th December 2009, under the headline “Why I fell Out With The Rajapaksas’ – General Sarath Fonseka Explains.”
At the outset we wish to categorically deny the contents of the statement made to your newspaper by Gen. (Rtd) Sarath Fonseka, former Commander of the Army and Chief of Defense Staff, with regard to the operations of Lanka Logistics and Technologies Ltd.
The role of Lanka Logistics & Technologies Ltd, is to facilitate transactions requested by the end users – namely the Armed Forces, Police Department of Civil Security and Department for Coast Guard – approved by the Ministry of Defense, Public Security, Law and Order.
At no stage did Lanka Logistics & Technologies Ltd., make an unsolicited proposal to the Sri Lanka Army to purchase $300 million worth of artillery shells from China, as alleged, nor facilitate such a transaction. The statement made by Gen (Rtd) Sarath Fonseka is therefore false and false to his knowledge and made for a collateral purpose.
As regard the allegations quoted in the article, Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, M.P., Minster of Healthcare and Nutrition and in the capacity as the Leader of the House, has already made a formal statement in parliament on Tuesday, 8th December 2009, explaining the correct position.
We hope your newspaper will give this clarification the necessary publicity and equal prominence.
Thank You,
Your faithfully,
Lanka Logistics & Technologies Ltd.,
Nimal Perera,
Chairman.
Editor’s Note: We stand by our story. We only quoted the General. Lanka Logistics should seek a clarification from General Sarath Fonseka – which we will be more than happy to carry.

People of this country will tell who is correct on the 26 of January 2010.
Y
Sunday Leader is correct in their note that they only reported SF and the clarification should come from him. The government should do that or take leal action against SF if it has proof.
කන්න ඕන වුනාම කබරගොයත් තලගොයෙක් වෙනවලු!
Now Sunday Leader is a good paper!. before it was a Tabloid and the the editor was assasinated!
Agree. Sunday Leader was pounding SF during the war and now has become the voice of SF. Even it was generous to remove their assassinated editor’s photo from its heading in the same time SF entered politics.
Kawru kawruth kabaragoi kanawa bada puroganna puluwanam.
SF is going to learn a good lesson this time for his loose-tounged arbitray comments with very obviously malicious intent. He has just turned to a very third grade politician even before his political carrer began. He will be history and his politics will be a non-starter. As Ranil says today and as he said in jaffna, he wants power and SF is a bait to attract JVP votes. That’s fair enough.
Gotabaya is suing the newspaper but Federica is and has always been a very responsible journalist who will provide the facts at the court which will hopefully end the career sought by SF post-retirement. Gota can not sue SF because he denied the statement the following day, but his antics will come to an end.
1. May be Lanka Logistics & Technologies Ltd., will also publish who its directors are and what their experience in arms procurement. After all knowledge of the items being purchased is an important criterion in making decisions. SF was one director, so he knew what he wanted.
2. Prof. Ruwan Dharmawardene.: – Prof of what and where plz if you would care to tell. there are so many doctors and professors in this country, its difficult to know who is real :)
3. Has everyone lost faith in our legal system? Why not take action against people who make false statements, unless they are not false so take an easy way out by making denials in a paper.
Yes, clarification is solicited please, we hope not in the calibre of ‘ Dr.’ Mervin Silva.
trader sounds like one of the people put out of business by lanka logistics! :-)
but agreedl if the general has made false statements he should be taken to court. but then people will also say it is a political move
The statement,’to fascilitate transaction between the end users and who ( obviously the Srilankan Armed forces), itself smell rat. First of all what is the necessity for a private company to do this job couldn’t the MOD itself directly deal with the supplier and ‘fascilitate this transaction? Secondly can the LL produce all the documents relating to the transactions and the countries which supplied ,at what price and for what. Thirdly if the allegation by GSF is false why can’t LL go for legal actions instead of making statement in the parliament and so on. Surely they can’t go for this option as so many skeletons in the cupboard have to be exibited. So easy way to fool ,majority of the Srilankans , is to give a statement in the parliament and ask the Rupavahini and lakehouse to give extensive cover. That shows the present leaders think ( I am sure they have correctly studied their subjects) they can fool all the ‘Patriotic’ Srilankans all the time.
I’m surprised at the editor’s note which is childish and unprofessional. You either stand by your story or not. And once you publish a statement of another person you are equally liable for defamation it is not good childishly asking people to clarify matters from the interviewee, that is your bloody job your morons
Interestingly, Min. Anura Yapa has thrown the same allegation back at SF saying a $222m. worth military eqpt. from China ordered on Aug 3rd by SF was disallowed by DS, and says this is the reason for his fall out with MR. (See news on DM on 25th)
Now what is behind this allegation, is it to balance the allegation already made by SF, or to provide a valid reason against SF for falling out with MR, or to cover up the arms consignment detected at Bangkok, or just to confuse readers?
According to General SF, thie Govt. has not purchased any valuable military hardware except for ammunition of different sorts (Sirisa TV Interview). IF SO GOTABHAYA OR RAJAPAKSHA WOULD HAVE GOT ONLY A SMALL CUT. So SF’s allegations about billions of corruption charges appear gfalse. Can you kindly elaborate
ATTENTION ALL : MR THE DAY LIGHT ROUGH ANOTHER MAHINDA CHINTHANAYA ACHIEVEMENT :-
Court orders Rajapaksa relative to return Ceylinco Investment Company shares back to Lalith Kotelawaela
2009-12-25 | 9.45 PM
Chairman, Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka, Janaka Ratnayake,(COMPUTER ISLAND OWNER Located Building Kirulapana NSB) who is a relative of the President, has been ordered by court to return the shares of Ceylinco Investment Company he forcibly acquired back to the Company’s Chairman, Lalith Kotelawela.
Janaka Ratnayake had used his connections to the President to buy the 39% of Ceylinco Investment Company’s shares owned by Kotelawela. Through such moves, Ratnayake managed to indirectly take charge of Ceylinco Invetsments and the Fingara Town and Country Club, which provides food to Temple Trees.
This transaction had taken place when the Golden Key
case was being heard in court. Although Kotelawala’s 39% shares in Ceylinco Investments was not included in the case, it was later included when depositors informed court of its existence. The court had then ordered the 39% of Ceylinco Investment shares be returned to the Company.
If this information is right God only can help SL from these iron clutches. This is only one case, what about Gold and other Treasures recovered from Vanni and Foreign Assets divulged by K.P. Besides this, The Finance and a number of Ceylinco Group and other troubled Finance Companies were officially handed over to MBSL with Janaka as Chairman. We know why now.
And now for information of all Patriots. MR has signed a 10 point pact with Douglas Devananda which includes recognition of Tamil Homeland Concept (Nija-bim Sankalpaya..) Please see news headline elsewhere in this same page.
JHU & W.W.-JVP speak up if you have the courage now. Who has sold the country saved by SF & Armed forces through their sweat and blood. Who has betrayed whom.
Depend on the statement made by the Editor (Foot Note) Take legal action againts Sarath Fonseka for making a foul statement. Now he is under the hands of Ranil, Mangala and Somawanse. They will kill him. How can we appoint him as our President,
