TNA to Declare Support by January 4
The Tamil National Alliance has said they will announce which candidate they will lend their support to for the upcoming Presidential elections by January 4.The TNA has not yet come to a decision as to which Presidential candidate to endorse for the upcoming election, despite recent meetings between the members. However, they have said they have plenty of time to come to a decision on this issue.

Its still premature to comment on the headline but meanwhile it is interesting to look at how the LTTE factor affected SL politics at the top level.
First they killed 9 soldiers during JR’s time starting communal riots and causing worldwide disrepute to SL. Then they killed President Premadasa despite having a no. of discussions and even financial assistance at a time. Then they killed Presidential Contender Gamini D. and made an easy passage for CBK to Presidency. Then they blocked Tamil votes at the last P. E. and allowed MR to presidency by a narrow margin.
Although several Ministers (Kadir & F. Pulle) in present regime were killed by LTTE it was really UNP they were after killing a no. of General Secretaries who were not even M.P.’s and all second rank leaders who might have succeeded after Premadasa except Ranil. The bomb at CBK apparently was only a threat.
It is interesting to note that despite all these, UNP is given the LTTE label, perhaps because they were more sympathetic towards minorities, and the other interesting fact is that they were comparatively less offensive against SLFP, and even helpful at times although they were more nationalistic minded.
It is also ironical that LTTE was wiped out by MR who came with their blessings at last P.E.
Now Prabha is no more and hence the ball is with TNA. Will they take the same stand as Prabha or think otherwise? .

The TNA should think twice before make a decision. We(sinhala,Tamil and Muslim) all need to change the Political Culture of SL as a preliminary step towards a Secular Society.That’s why we selected Hon.Sarath Fonseka as a comon candidate. MR is selling the war drummer to cheat innocent people in our country.Be very care from this Anti Social regime who is vialating very seriously the Elections Law. I came to know that he is bribing people from his official residence in Kandy for the Electoral benefits. The same was done during the PC elections too. Please make a sound decision to reform SL to a better place to every citizen.

This is true and disgraceful. Not only in Kandy feasts are being held every other day even at Araliyagaha Mandiraya. All sectors of Govt. Svce. and other Business groups, Artists and various categories of society are being entertained at official residences despite being advised not to do so by the Elections Commissioner. A Leader of a country has never gone to such a low level to win an election. There was a term “Bath-gotta..” used in 1950′s against the people who received such petty profits. So far only customs officers has refused this treat. Hats-off to them.

I totally agree with Raguna, SLFP always took agreesive policies agasinst tamils from 1957, 1970 standardissation, ETC. UNP was doplomatic at times as well.As a tamil , we have two evils and finding which one is less agrresive is the frist problem and what will happen if TNA suppoert one evil and other evil come to power.Tamils are sufferting from the time Prba started in interfearing Srilankan politics and killed Rajiv.
There is a possibility that on a long term Tamils may disapper in Srilanka and Chinese might take over in 50 years .So God only can help tamils

Tamil Problem had been started WHEN our Indigenous People were converted to (any) foreign Religions…. started with Buddhism and then Islam and then Chiristianity.
Islam kills the Indigenous people in the East as well as Buddhism Kills all over Eelam/Ceylon.
OUR problem is the Religions. Get rid of them.
I have mentioned earlier the Random Distribution of Social Wealth among people(Sinhala+Tamil+Muslim).If we do so all the schools in the island too will recieve same quantitative assistance and no need for Standadisation. This standerdisation too was a Factor behind the LTTE up-rising during the 1970s.To do all those things the Active Participation of tamils in Polity is a must. In this moment we must eradicate caste,creed and religion too,the divisive factors in any society in the world. The plantation Tamils too treated equally raising their living standards while advancing the Productin and Quality of the industry. To do all this things the Active Participation of Tamils in their motherland is an urgent issue.

Whatever the TNA going to say, is not going to make any difference to Singhalese or Tamils. So don’t bother, TNA. Just look after the interest of India, your new master.

TNA’s decision matters as they have more than 700,00 votes and it the election gonna be a tight game, the 700,000 votes matter.
and as far as i have read and understood, india lost sri lankan tamil peoples support long long ago and it never had Sinhalese support.
so india is NO master of TNA.

Sri Lankan problem is the GLOBAL problem. China send nuke bombs thru North Korea to Sri Lanka, to fight India last week and it got stuck in Thailand.
India is in a position NOT TO TRUST Fonseka or Mahinda, because BOTH are the puppets for the Mongolian Buddhist Monks.

But there is something in your Chinese factor. AJ, in a previous comment fears Tamils to be wiped out of SL and Chinese to take over. Majority of weapons captured from LTTE were of Chinese origin. And now the latest cargo load from China. Who ordered them? (A media joker recently says SF has ordered.)
Still too early to say who ordered that. What we can guess is that something BIG is going on behind the scene by the BIG powers. Poor Sri Lanka is a ScapeGoat again.
Support SF and get your legitimate greivances redressed. Dont dangle too many conditions. Build trust.
