Fashion Week

Rohit Bal and Tarun Tahiliani of Indian fashion design industry will show at HSBC Colombo Fashion Week 2010, which is scheduled from February 5-7 .

Colombo Fashion Week (C.F.W.) encourages participation of international and regional designers as it goes with its objective of uplifting the Sri Lankan fashion designers through interaction with the same. Regional designers from South Asia have made a mark internationally and bringing these designers to create a platform of interaction with Sri Lankan designers will benefit the Sri Lankan fashion industry.

Bal and Tahiliani are first generation Indian designers who virtually started the Indian fashion design industry in the late 80s. The “exciting” part of the event will be the 17 Sri Lankan collections that will be showed at C.F.W. 2010. There will be the likes of Yoland, Kanchana, Darshi, Middle Finger, LICC jeans, Stringhopper, Arugam Bay, and Sarani. In addition there will be five new designers with potential showcasing.

Identifying new designers and providing a platform after grooming them is the basis of C.F.W. 2010. This exercise has borne fruit as over the years designers like Darshi, Kanchana, LICC jeans and Middle Finger have got the exposure they deserve.
