JVP Goes to Court Against the Taking Over of Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha

The JVP today filed a petition before the Supreme Court against the alleged takeover of the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha by the government.

The case was filed by a group of JVPers headed by Hambantota District parliamentarian Nihal Galappaththi. The petition has called for the court to intervene in the matter and to reinstate the JVP Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, who has been allegedly removed from his office.

Attorneys Sunil Watagala and Manjual Balasuriya handed the case to the Supreme Court on behalf of the JVP.

Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijelal Silva, Head of the Commission of Inquiry and the Secretary of the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha have been cited as respondents.

  1. Though Chief Justice appointed by MR, it should be the first place to seek justice.
