UNF Intra-Party Fighting Erupts

UNF Galgamuwa organizer and Kurunegala District candidate Upulangani Malagamuwa was attacked by a group of supporters of another UNF candidate from the district, Mohan Perera.

Malagamuwa told The Sunday Leader that she was on her way with her family and supporters to the Galgamuwa temple to engage in religious observances before launching her election campaign when a group of Perera supporters attacked them.

“The drunken supporters attacked and physically assaulted us, saying we could not do politics in Galgamuwa except for Perera,” she said.

Malagamuwa called UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and informed him of the incident.

Malagamuwa has also lodged a complaint with the Ambanpola Police.
