Only Six IDP Camps Remaining

The government has reportedly said that only six IDP camps remain in the North.

According to the Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Ministry, the number of IDPs in these camps has been reduced to 84,000. These IDPs are mostly from the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts, the Ministry said.

The resettlement process is conducted according to the progress made in the de-mining programme.

Soon after the war, there were 21 welfare camps that housed over 300,000 IDPs.

Will say 300,000 IDP’s were there at the beginning. Now 84,000 remaining. 182,000 resettled.

If 182,000 resettled in 300,000 there should be 118,000 remaining in camps. But now only 84,000 left. So what happened to balance 34,000? Will say 11,000 were LTTE cadres and they are detained in special rehab centers.. Still 23,000 missing. What happened to them???

10,000 army to prevent them from escaping. More that that camps were surrounded by barb wire fence… But now you are telling 23,000 have escaped. If you have sixth sense pls use it before commenting.
