TCK Old Boys At Cricket

The annual Inter-House Old Boys’ Softball Cricket Tournament organised by the Colombo Branch of the TCK OBA will take place at the CH&FC grounds, Maitland Place on Wednesday, April 28 commencing 8.30 a.m.

A keen tussle for supremacy is assured with Trinity cricket stalwarts of yesteryear in the fray. Lemuel House comes into the tournament as defending champions and has the distinction of producing from its ranks the national skipper, Kumar Sangakkara. At stake is the Frank Sirimanne shield donated by his erstwhile opening partner, S.B. Pilapitiya.

The highlight of the day’s proceedings will be the ‘Battle of the Legends’ involving past cricketing greats, many of who are Lions who never get long in the tooth. Jayan Ratwatte who was awarded the cricket Lion in 1959 along with Nimal Maralanda, Malsiri Kurukulasuriya and Seneca de Chickera will lead one team whilst the other will be led by Naren Dambawinne who was awarded his Lion in 1978 along with Dinesh Selvarajah and Andre Tissera. The two sides will vie for the trophy donated by Asia Tea Pvt Limited.
