Free Media Movement Under Fire

The 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Free Media Movement (FMM) was held on May 25, 2010 at the Auditorium of the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI). The decisions made at the AGM included the course of action upon completion of the investigation into the allegations of misappropriation of funds of the FMM and appointment of the office bearers for the oncoming year.

The members at the AGM noted the recommendations made by the investigations committee and that there has been financial misuse with respect to foreign funded projects and the inability of the auditors to give an opinion with respect to the accounts of all the projects for the financial years 2007/2008 and 2008/2009. Based on this the members at the AGM decided to call on all the office bearers and the respective project coordinators of the FMM for the years 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 to settle all accounts with respect to the said years within one month commencing from June 10, 2010.

Any office bearer or project coordinator failing to do so shall be expelled from the FMM.
