New Wildlife Parks In The North

Areas in the North are being considered for wildlife parks, bird and forest sanctuaries. Economic Development Minister General Dr. Chandrawansa Pathiraja said that areas such as Nayaru, Kokila, Chundikulam and Madu Road are possible areas for these ventures.

He added that this would create job opportunities as well as preserve the beauty that has been given to Sri Lanka. He also stated that authourities are looking into expanding the Wilpattu National Park by encompassing the land in the Northern area.

In the South, East and West part of this Island the politicians are having wildlife, the way they travel on the roads, visit places, grab lands, attack opponents etc….. Do they want to do this in the North too ???

    • anthony jones

Yes, they have the military to do that for them now that all the roads are being given Sinhalese names and signposted only in Sinhalese.
Even the animals will not understand it,

The Kokkilai, wildlife park has it’s many acres burnt down deliberately as per news reports of a few days ago There must be plans for a few more military cantonments and Sinhalese colonisation schemes.

The regret that I Have is that the wild cannot be controlled beyond redemption politicians and racist goons will be a bad influence on the innocent wildlife that frequent these areas. a j.

yeah animals wl sure u’stand tamil ha ha ha u said it! noth is part of srilanka not eelam yeah welcome to reality! keep crying!! booooh! sinhalease took my land booh!!!

It is time the Tamils learn to accept that the country belongs to all citizens. Every individual, regardless of their ethnicity should be free to travel, do business, educate their children and buy land and build houses wherever they think is suitable. This is the fundamental right of all citizens that VP denied when he was running gang of thugs and murderers.

There are no “Tamils only” areas in the country any more and you and your Tamil friends ought to accept it what ever your views are. Lessons learnt through fighting a terrorist war has taught the Government to take its responsibility to provide access to the nation to feel confident of building communities of all races. Never again do we want to see another sectarian war that destroyed life and property to such extent.
How the Government do it is up to them, and to use the army personnel is perfectly reasonable. VP used them in a similar way to build their bunkers and air strips. There is also the need to have the area policed by a regular force to prevent clandestine movements that may give rise to another separatist war.
Anthony Jones it is tough that you have to toe the line with the rest. Animals don’t need sign posts but people need them and it is reassuring to see original names springing up after VP tried to obliterate these name altogether.

        • BASH

Has any other community other than the Sinhala tried to put up shops in Kiribathgoda…. well Bairaha tried once a few years back and it was burnt down

        • BASH

VP is a terrorist, is our govt the same level, for you to compare

        • Dilshan

Most Muslims are always fight against Unjustice. BUT, most of the times, the tricky world name them as Terrorists. BUT, the Wise World name Bush as Fool and Liar.

  2. oh..wonderful so modayas think Tamils ask for PARKS…..

    • shrp

who said tamils asked – modaya! anything in the north has to be with tamil permission go fly a kite under prabas grave!

      • anthony jones

Even the oldest of the suddhas will reject a moron like this shp, they will have better taste., poor dog. a j.

  3. Sarala Bopage

No need for animals and wild life in these parks because all the skeletons and grave yards will open up and there will be the restless spirits roaming around these parks and entertaining all and sundry in these parks which will be a major tourist attraction and more money could be earned in the cash strapped nation.

  4. I Hussein

Opening more santuaries are good. But first take care of the already exsisitng ones. There is no proper restaurants for tourists. there is no adequate sanitory facilities for visitiors. Yala guides are hopeless and know nothing about wild life. Absolutely no knowledge about flora and founa. Their only interest is how much ‘tip’ that they will get at the end. They look horrible in faded ugly unifroms. No professionalism at all. All these guides needed some kind of education regarding their job or on the job training. authorities must visit countires liek Aouth Africa, namibia, Tanzania & Kenya and adopt those system and facilities to suite us here in Srilanka to promote both local and international tourism. Copying system of those countries while sitting here is a joke. Dont appoint guides or rangers for the sake giving them a job. There must be schools for guiding and jobs should be given after fully qualified. Forest departmenet and wild life authorities must wake up and get rid of old outdated system. We have a long way to go but we think we are the best. Do things peoperly or dont do it at all.

    1. What is Islaam?
The word “Islaam” is an Arabic word that means “submitting and
surrendering your will to Almighty God”. The word comes from the same
root as the Arabic word “salam”, which means peace. Unlike the names
used for other religions, such as Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity,
the name for the religion of Islaam was both revealed by God and
carries a deep spritual meaning – only by submitting one’s will to
Almighty God can one obtain true peace both in this life and in the
life hereafter. Islaam teaches that all religions originally had the
same essential message – which was to submit whole-heartedly to the
will of God and to worship Him and Him alone. For this reason, Islaam
is not a new religion but is the same divinely revealed Ultimate Truth
that God revealed to all prophets, including Noah, Abraham, Moses and
    Jesus.
    2. Who are Muslims?
The Arabic word “Muslim” literally means “someone who submits to the
will of God”. The message of Islaam is meant for the entire world and
anyone who accepts this message becomes a Muslim. Some people
mistakenly believe that Islaam is just a religion for Arabs, but
nothing could be further from the truth, since in actuality over 80%
of the world’s Muslims are not Arabs! Even though most Arabs are
Muslims, there are Arabs who are Christians, Jews and atheists. If one
just takes a look at the various peoples who live in the Muslim World
    - from Nigeria to Bosnia and from Morocco to Indonesia – it is easy
enough to see that Muslims come from all different races, ethnic
groups and nationalities. From the very beginning, Islaam had a
universal message for all people. This can be seen in the fact that
some of the early companions of the Prophet Muhammad were not only
Arabs, but also Persians, Africans and Byzantine Romans. Being a
Muslim entails complete acceptance and active obedience to the
revealed will of Almighty God. A Muslim is a person who freely accepts
to base his beliefs, values and faith on the will of Almighty God. In
the past, even though you don’t see it as much today, the word
“Mohammedans” was often used as a label for Muslims. This label is a
misnomer and is the result of either wilful distortion or sheer
ignorance. One of the reasons for the misconception is that Europeans
were taught for centuries that Muslims worshipped the Prophet Muhammad
in the same way that Christians worship Jesus. This is absolutely not
true since a Muslim is not permitted to worship anyone or anything
    besides Almighty God.
    3. Who is Allaah?
Very often one will here the Arabic word “Allaah” being used in
regards to Islaam. The word “Allaah” is simply the Arabic word for
Almighty God, and is the same word used by Arabic speaking Christians
and Jews. If one were to pick up an Arabic translation of the Bible,
one would see the word “Allaah” being use where the word “God” is used
in English. Actually, the Arabic word for Almighty God, “Allaah”, is
quite similar to the word for God in other Semitic languages – for
example, the Hebrew word for God is “Elah”. For various reasons, some
non-Muslims mistakenly believe that Muslims worship a different God
than the God of Moses and Abraham and Jesus. This is certainly not the
case, since the Pure Monotheism of Islaam calls all people to the
worship of the God of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and all of the other
    prophets.

    • BASH

There you go again, NO PAYMENTS IN THIS WORLD. Please get out of the habit of jumping into conclusions or judging anything that you know nothing of

      • BASH

I mean Almighty Allah does not permit a person to make any payment to accept Islam but it is the responsibility of all the Muslims to pass on the message of Allah ( to inform the others and it is upto the other person to either accept or reject it) if not on the Day of the Judgement (before a non believing person is being pushed to Hell) will tell Almighty Allah that the muslims were selfish and did not pass on the message

      • Dilshan

        You are funny.

What has Islaam got to do with wildlife-sancturaries??? Oh God, another CRACK !!

      An Thony Jones,
You are mocking entire community for no valid reason and talking of a vilification of a lady to ridicule her. Did you an Thony ever enjoy this kind of SL Hostility (Hospistality)?

Suppose she were converted (unethically) to christianity. Do you dare to drag her maliciously like this. Of course, she would not have written a book like “darkness to light” conversion would not have been based on justification.

Remember how you were jumping in the case of Rifka barry an unfairly brainstormed child leaving her and parents to suffer.

Quran predicted this 1400 yrs ago in ;3;186 you shall certainly hear from those who have been given the Book before you and from those who are polytheists much annoying talk; and if you are patient and guard (against evil), surely this is one of the affairs (which should be) determined upon.
and also in 33;88 And incline not to the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Disregard their noxious talk, and put thy trust in Allah. Allah is sufficient as Trustee.

      • azath

        Dear no remorse,
To begin with, I was not born or brought up in Pakistan. instead in Sri Lanka.

It is pretty obvious you that you need to learn a bit more about Allah before uttering the ignorant words. I am giving a few verses from Quran for your reference.

2;255 Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).
this verse gives you the mightiness of him and in various other places he says he is all wise and all knowing.

2;156 “To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return”
you and me have to return to him after our death it would happen even if you dislike or deny it.

55;26 & 27, All that is on earth will perish:
But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour.
        He is eternal and everlasting.

If any one does evil or wrongs his own soul but afterwards seeks Allah’s forgiveness, he will find Allah Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
he will forgive all your sins immediately if you repent from your heart and Interceder (priest), any sacrifice or any other karma are NOT at all a requirement as a means for repentance. it is only the freewill of you.

        Dilshan,
You have to study the subject clearly before pens. It is the duty of muslims to educate Islam. Abiding is your choice.
        Islam shows practical way of life. with explicit guidelines on all aspect of life and also on sexuality. Quran says;
24;30 Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.
24;31 And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof;( this is a long verse giving great details I cut short for fear of expansion)
when one desires to fulfill his needs, this is what Prophet Mohamed PBUH says in Hadith (Bukhari).”O young people! Whoever among you can marry, should marry because it helps him lower his gaze and guard his modesty (i.e., his private parts from committing illegal sexual intercourse etc.), and whoever is not able to marry, should fast; as fasting diminishes sexual power.”
Marriage is so important in Islam to the extends that “If Allah grants a Muslim a righteous wife, this helps him preserve half of his religion (faith). He should, therefore, fear Allah as regards the other half.” ( At-Tabarani and Al-Hakim).

After all these, If one commits the sin of adultery or fornication He or she are punished either by lashings or stoning to death. No difference in gender as you blindly utters.
Islam allows women to marry of their choice after obligatory mourning period following the death or divorce of her husband.
see quran 2;234 Such of you as die and leave behind them wives, they (the wives) shall wait, keeping themselves apart, four months and ten days. And when they reach the term (prescribed for them) then there is no sin for you in aught that they may do with themselves in decency. Allah is informed of what ye do.
Do not utter silly comment ignorantly of Islam. It is a complete way of life.

Every Criminals must set up Court and Judge for themselves, from now on……. not only in Ceylon, all over the world.

    • BASH

There will be no justice without any law… humans cannot make laws because they are not perfect and liable to make mistakes and need to amend/correct or change after so many are affected by it….. If anybody study the Islamic Sharia and follow it as it is perfect… Of course those who are selfish or criminals will not like it as they will not be able to escape since there are no loopholes or weakness in the Sharia Law.

      • Dilshan

Yes Sharia Law does just cut the arms and legs or just cut the throat. There won’t be any loopholes to escape from cutting.

In this century it doesn’t work. It may work for the Good Buddhists of Singheelam as they won’t to kill the Indigenous People. In fact they used Local Muslims and Pakistani Muslims to kill us.

Now you can see what is happening to the Pakistani Muslims. The Karma is the most powerful than any Gods.

        • Dilshan

Praba Killed more of his people than his so called enemies who are mainly from white skin Singheela Rulers. That is his mistake. He loved white skin Singheela Rulers than the Indigenous People of his own. Praba and Singheela Rulers used most of the Indigneous Skin People at the front line in the war.

Well, Karma was so powerful to get rid of Praba and Singheela Presidents and other evil forces.

Still Karma is wrong, on our Brave Soldier Hero Sarath Fonseka. Those Evils are winning against the good Man.

        • BASH

As for the Brave soldier SF, this is what the Kings did to their opponents, sometimes killed and on certain occasions imprisoned calling them traitors

Tell me….. what is the punishment for the Traitor?
What is the punishment for the Ruler killed the mass of people without killing the real criminals or opponents of the Govt? ( Singheelam killed more innocent civilians who were named as connections with JVP, or Tamil militants)

Channel 4 News picked up both awards it was nominated for at last night’s Amnesty Media Awards. Our Sri Lanka coverage won the TV News Coverage and Somalia journalist Jamal Osman won the Gaby Rado award for new journalists.

The Amnesty Media Awards recognise “excellence in human rights reporting and acknowledge journalism’s significant contribution to the UK public’s awareness and understanding of human rights issues”.

In the TV News Category, the team behind Channel 4 News’ Sri Lanka coverage won against stiff competition from Sky’s “Falujah Babies” report and another Channel 4 News piece – Nick Martin’s report from Ciudad Juarez on child trafficking across the US border.

The Sri Lanka entry comprised a report into internment camps that saw Nick Paton Walsh deported from the country, the airing of a video purporting to show Tamil soldiers being executed, and the eventual UN verdict that authenticated that video. Deputy Foreign Editor Tim Lambon collected the award on behalf of the team and recognised the collective efforts of the Channel 4 News team, and fixers on the ground in making the coverage possible.

I’ll copy it as it is to make it easy for you.

Friday, 8 May 2009 POONTHALATHAZHAM (KOLLAM):
A lady in Kerala has claimed that LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, who is spearheading the fight for a separate Tamil eelam in Sri Lanka, is her first cousin and that he has Malayali roots.

Earlier this month, the Economic Times of India interviewed a 77-year-old woman, Janaki Amma, in her lower middle class residence about 20 km from Kollam in the southern Indian state of Kerala, who claimed Prabhakaran, son of her maternal uncle, Vellupillai, is a Malayali.
“Velupillai was one of five brothers and two sisters, one of who was my mother Nani Amma”, she says. That makes her the first cousin of Prabhakaran, who she has never met.

“My uncle Velupillai last came to Kollam for my grandfather’s funeral when I was a 12-year-old,” she told the paper. “Since then, I have not seen him. He used to regularly send money to my mother, but after my mother’s demise that stopped. It used to be Rs. 50 per month, but that was a princely amount those days”, reminisces Janaki Amma.

She showed the paper a post card that her uncle had sent from Jaffna. Sent on 18.12.1953, the address read: R Velupillai, Vale Beeda Store, 224, KKS Road, Jaffna.

“After settling in Jaffna, my uncle’s children would obviously have studied in Tamil medium and been brought up in that culture, quite naturally,” Amma said, trying to explain how Prabhakaran might have taken to the Lanka Tamil separatist cause and passed off as a Tamil. – With Agencies

Do you know the punishments by the sinhalese kings ???? You have jumped into conclusions again without going through history correctly……………Anyway, you have just taken a very very small part of the Sharia Law that protects the victim…. Just imagine if you or your loved one was a victim and the criminal walks Scot free or with a very minor punishment and comes back to attack again… I guess you will say in modern day it is ok to get raped, robbed etc over and over by the same guy
