Cameras TO CURB CRIME

The government last week installed CCTV cameras in Colombo City as a measure to curb crime and traffic offences. This picture shows workers busily installing one such camera while a policeman stands watch. - Photo by Thusitha Kumara

Cops will get caught most frequently accpeting bribes from the drivers and others than the other criminals. Police can police themself. Another MR Farse and some one is getting millions of commission. – Rudan

Wise move. Low and order should be implemented equally as well.

There are several probabilities after this exercise which would no doubt end up as a waste of public funds:
    1. These cameras will be stolen.
    2. They will not be maintained and end up like some of our clock-towers.
    3. The cops will either not take action against offenders or will be selective in prosecuting only some offenders.

Hope & pray the coppers are caught while accepting bribes.

This is another piece of crap . They are scared of an armed revolt.

Justice can be easily dispensed without cameras. Keep Mervins Silvas off Parliament and streets, keep politicians off the police and judges. Let the Police do their job withouit political interference.. Period..

Firstly, will this work properly and the other will only the politically powerless be dealt with as happening now ???

  10. The real thugs are the police. First you need to teach them how to speak to a civilian. You cannot go in to a police station for even a small complain. They treat you like a criminal.
They think that they are there to bull us. The police should be educated that, they are there to protect us and not govern us.

People would help the police if they are respected by them. Crime would drop and we would not need cameras to stop crime in this little island.

These camaras to be installed in the houses and offices of politicians. Then most of the crimes could be curbed.
