Ranil And MR Agree On Executive Prime Minister Post

Ranil greeted by G.L. Peiris in front of Mahinda Rajapaksa

Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Peoples Alliance and Ranil Wickremesinghe’s main opposition UNP have agreed, in principle, to alter the Constitution to create an Executive Prime Minister post. In 1978, J.R. Jayawardene used his majority to replace a British-style Parliamentary system with a French-style Parliament plus Executive Presidency. Now it seems that Mahinda is using his majority to return to a Parliamentary system and create a powerful Prime Minister’s post which he could occupy, without term limits, as long as he has party support.

The UNP had protested against a proposed lifting of term limits on the Presidency, saying that this would entrench family rule. One anonymous UNP MP said “Can you imagine if we had not had term limits in the past? JR would have never left, CBK would have never left,” referring to Presidents J.R. Jayawardene and Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. Now the UNP is seemingly satisfied, though their chances of occupying that Prime Ministership look dim.

Haha Psycho….. I think Ranil is taken for a ride again… remember how UNP was in consultation with MR few years back on the Ethinic issue and how MR suddenly got over 30 or so UNP members to his fold after that. Wait and See man…

Sorry Carmen, you are mistaken. MR cannot RW for a ride. Ranil is smart but sadly not many of us read him correct. MR thinks he is cunning but he is not and he isnt genuine. He is fooling ignorant village people with his patriotic talks and ‘Vest & Sarong’ plus vote rigging of course. Some power hungry UNP MP’s joined him for the posts & fame, not for the love of the country or serve the people. He cannot fool all people all the time. His days are numbered anyway.
Psyco – TWO great minds, come on mate, what great about MR? He is where today is thanks to JVP (& LTTE) – by default. He is excatly doing what his ex lady boss (srima B) did in the 70s. Queue culture and scarcity is on the way.

Any one who loves this country will never support MR. MR strategy was built on fooling people, suck national wealth, built second safe home away from Sri Lanka and achieve their personal objectives. There is no transparency in this country and the whole system got corrupted by placing proxies. Country and the well being of Sri Lankans are not in MR’s agenda. But our gullible people think that he is the saviour.

The new constitution should reduce or eliminate the Tamil voting rights. The Singhalese should be given priority on everything. This is the only way we can solve the problem in Sri Lanka.
Tamils should payadditional tax for living in Sri Lanka because they don’t belong here. It is like paying rent.

Well done Hon.MR and Hon.Ranil Wickramasinghe.Good Luck Mother Lanka.

    Kalag,

Tamils doesn’t have to pay tax……..sadly you and your scapegoat sinhalese people paying tax for past 60 years………in the end you will find a stick instead of carrot.

Get real…….read some foreign articles not chinthana…..chinthana can be used as toilet rolls.

    hehehe

Tamils never paid taxes. They are the parasites who suck the blood of the Singhalese. Your comment proves that.
The foreign articles are always contaminated by the diaspora Tamils. They have no use to Sri Lanka. Before we had only LTTE as our enemies. Now the enemies are cropping up every where. It is foolish not to protect the Singhalese people constitutionally. That does not guarantee but at least it is the start.
Tamils will leave the country once they have got their free education. That is what they have done and still doing. Either they have to pay for that or leave now and go and suck the blood of other countries.
