Today the Hindu Adi Vel procession returned to the streets of Colombo after 16 years. This procession of gods proceeded from Pettah and traveled through York Street, Achilon Square and Galle Road, stopping to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa in front of his residence at Temple Trees. It was organized by the trustees of the Sammangod Sri Kathir Velautha Swami Temple and Manicavinayagak Temple.
The festival celebrates the Lord Murukan (Kataragama Deviyo) and his victory over evil.

So write up this Adi Vel festival and publish it in the Canadian newspapers. Target Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa – wherever the rump LTTE are. Help us out by constructive input because these children need it and so do the foreigners who are currently supporting us like the Canadian federal govt.

You want to talk about dynasties? Okay – ever heard of the Senanayakes? Did you know that Ranil is a relative of JR? What about the Bandaranaikes? If you don’t like dynasties, get into politics yourselves and present yourselves as a suitable alternative. If you can’t find a reasonable substitute, accept the choice there is.
Brothers and sisters, things are not perfect here. Nor are they a total write off. It takes a long time to turn the ship of state around. Mahinda is cracking the whip. People are toeing the line and delivering the goods. You claim that he is benefitting from it. So are you, citizens, so are you! Enjoy your freedom and your opportunities. I can’t forget the Vel Festival in Sri Lanka. The last Vel Festival I attended was in 83. A known police man approached my father and told him to get back to home as soon as possible and stay indoor for next few days. Every one knows what had happened on the following days. The whole world witnessed the cannibalism, barbarism and blood thirst human.. I lost my father and luck to be alive as rest of us vacated the country soon after.
Everthing was robbed from us. Ranging from Lord Murukan to land from North and East.

The president can and should participate in any of the religious ceremonies, becuse he is the president for all not only for budist but also for tamils and muslims. This is a real example for every one. But does his government gives equal rights to every one in this country?, does his gov treat all people same?, does his gov give equal chance for all people in this country? The answer is NO. To get done any work in a government sector or get a job, whether you are a buddist tamil or muslim you have to beg the politicians. And so on so forth we can list.
