Twenty Witnesses Summoned For ‘White Flag’ Case Hearings

The Colombo High Court today issued summons on 20 witnesses in the case involving a statement made by the former Army General Sarath Fonseka during an interview with the Sunday Leader ( December 13th 2009) that Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had issued an illegal order to a ground commander, not to accommodate surrendering LTTE leaders during the last stages of the war.
Daily hearings into the highly controversial ” White Flag” case is to begin on the 27th of September.

In SL history where Buddhist monks played a noble role to voice their opinion against injustice have been shut for carrots and threats. How long will this dog administration ruin this country. In the world a man should act according to the demands of one’s conscience. You do not show gratitude to those who use you to further the advantages to themselves and suppress the freedoms enshrined in the constitution as well as the international covenants to which we are signatories. General acted within his rights and i he is incarcerated in jail for that particular action of him .If likes of Karuna Ammaan,Pillayan and KP can be given such VIP treatments we Sri Lankans should be ashamed to be sitting at home without doing anything concrete or constructive to help General be released from the clutches of revengeful Rajapakse clan. May The General be protected by all the Gods from the Rajapase clan and bestow him with long life and health.

It is not “unnecessary attention” by any stretch of imagination.. This is the SINGLE-MOST and the by far the STRONGEST accusation SUPPORTING THE HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES by the Sri Lankan government during the Tiger rebelion, which led to Ban Ki Moon’s call for an an independent enquiry. Hence it is a LIFE AND DEATH matter for the President and his administration. It is in the Nations interest that we go to the bottom of this accusation and ascertain the truth once and for all. We must not forget that the word “ungrateful” is a double edged sword in this instance… Are we suggesting that General Fonseka was the most grateful of all servants in this country ?
Who was ungrateful to whom, the debate may be raging on on this page. Elections results however showed the people’s verdict.
The correct political leadership is the main reason for winning the war. SF did his part as the commander of the armed forces and i salute him for his bravery. but as an inexperienced politician, he messed up big time with the already dead UNP. i hope for his early release and look forward for reconciliation from all sides and all communities in sri lanka as we are marching forward towards rapid development.
