Buddhist Monk Indicted by AG
The Attorney General has today (27) indicted Ven. Uvatenna Sumana Thero and four others before the Colombo High Court for committing offences under the Emergency Regulations and Offensive Weapons Act.
The Attorney General has complained that the Ven. Sumana Thero had retained 50 hand grenades, two T56 assault rifles and 210 live bullets in his possession in violation of the Emergency Regulations and Offensive Weapons Act.
The Thero has been charged on nine counts under the Emergency Regulations and eight counts under the Offensive Weapons Act.
Colombo High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundera has issued summons on the suspects to appear in court on August 30 when the case will be taken up.
