Indian Defence Secretary To Visit SL
Indian Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar is to visit Sri Lanka shortly to initiate a defence dialogue between the two counties.
The Hindu newspaper has reported that India and Sri Lanka will revert to a more normal defence relationship with the end of ethnic conflict.
The institutional mechanism of a yearly defence dialogue was decided by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa during their meeting meeting in June.
“It is time to look at greater comprehensive cooperation. In this context, we broadly discussed the areas which would be important to focus on in the annual defence dialogue. An earlier visit by the Defence Secretary would help to understand the issues. In the aftermath of the conflict, there is a need for a different defence relationship,” the Hindu has quoted sources as saying after the high-level India-Sri Lanka talks on Thursday.

Paul, Just look at the events and how they unfolded in the last two years..When Karunanidhi went on fasting (or was it farting?), SL did nothing but the Indian government begged SL to do something. Gota said, we won’t bomb..hehe.. and the guy stopped his comic act. Many occasions, Indian dignitaries came to SL promising the world a lot, but went back empty handed. If you believe all the promises the Indians have made to TamilNadu and the rest of teh world, SL should have had a new governing structure some long time ago. Can’t you see, SL keeps showing carrots to India, and doing it their way, in complete contrast to what you say. In fact only in 1987 SL was intimidated by Rajiv Gandhi, but no more.
Looking back the political history of SriLanka during the past 30 years India was a threat to the region(Geo politically).
Following the general elections in 1977 Hon.JR liberated the Economy. Indira Ghandhi, the high caste minded woman was suffering from Superiority complex and was instructed by the RAW to destabilised the island only for hate Hon.JR. As a result the very poor un-employed youth were trained in Tamil N.adu. That was the birth of the LTTE. Following about 10 years later India herself liberated the Economy.
Our late Hon.Rohana Wijeweera faw-saw that situation during the inception of the 1960s and formulated the most practical theory “the Indian Expancionism”.
Our MILITORY is the most productive and efficient organisation in the world and this MR regime wants to de-stabilice the MILITORY of our own and take the Invincible intervencionist hand of India into our tiny Island for his own benefit. India has played a major role in manipulating the tamils with sinhalese in the past that given birth to tigers. But all of the india’s plan was smash by Mr. JRJ by signing the 1987 accords with India led the tigers’ gun against indian leaders and stopped all supports to tigers. ‘Who fed and adopt tigers let them kill it’ That was JRJ’s long term plan. I seem to be the only and first Indian offering a comment and the sentiments expressed in earlier comment tells me Sri Lankans feel they have have been made monkey of till recently and India has to admit they played to Tamil Politics and did train the LTTE and when Pirbhakaran retaliated they chose Douglas Devananda to do India’s bidding. Jayawardne was clever as he was under JVP pressure by signing the 1987 accords with India and the Tigers one day trained their gun against indian Army and killed 1400 souls .
Then Karuna defected and a Cricket playing Army with great Leadership by Rajapakshya team turned it in to a force to decimate the LTTE. India must respect a new Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka must know India is big and can be a good partner and balance China, but be proud but also pro India or you will regret it. .
