Trans Asia Hotel — 25 Years Young

The 25th anniversary celebration of Trans Asia Hotels PLC which kicked off with a fun filled sports extravaganza amongst the five star city hotels, was followed by religious ceremonies and culminated with a Long Service Awards Ceremony.
Held in grand style at the hotel’s Kings Court Ballroom, the associates had amidst them, Chairman, John Keells Holdings, Susantha Ratnayake, Roshan Gurusinghe, Sunil Pieris and Shafeek Wahab – all of who have been closely associated with the hotel.

General Manager Neroy Marso, mentioned in his opening speech to a packed audience in the ballroom, that it was his privilege to be present on this prestigious occasion and made special mention of the spouses who have given their unstinted support and understanding over the years, considering the demanding and long hours put in by the associates.

Twenty six associates who have been with the hotel from the inception had completed 25 years, while there were 125 who completed 20 years, 15, ten and five years, who were also awarded with special gifts and valuable tokens of appreciation. In conclusion, Marso extended his heartiest congratulations to all the recipients of awards and wished them many more happy and fulfilling years at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo. He also thanked the rest of the associates who were not present at the gala dinner reception, as they were on duty overseeing the operation of the hotel.

Marso also said that despite many challenges faced in the recent past, the team had together come forward and performed admirably.

With the birth of Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, after the recently completed refurbishment and the opening of 7 Degrees North — the hotel’s biggest success story, The Dining Room — having taken the usual coffee shop concept to a grander level, the lounge which is well frequented now and the overall look and feel of the hotel suddenly becoming everyone’s popular choice, has certainly brought a lot of joy and pride to the associates!

In-between the service years awards, scintillating dance acts by the well known Chandana Wickremasinghe Dance Troupe was enjoyed by all.

Human Resources Director Wasanthi Stephen, gave an inspiring vote of thanks and the evening concluded with a sumptuous dinner buffet churned up by Executive Chef Wasantha Peiris and Pastry Chef Jagath Wijesinghe and their team who had put out a fantastic spread. Warren and Rozette together with Kalum, Neville and Ranga stole the show and invited everyone thereafter to the floor, giving them an uninterrupted evening of dance music past midnight!
