The locally produced BTI larvicide has finally been sprayed in selected areas. It was first used at the State Engineering Corporation in Peliyagoda on September 1 (Wednesday).

The BTI was reportedly produced by local firm Biopower, in an attempt to exterminate dengue-breeding mosquitoes.

Cases of dengue have escalated rapidly, with 28,900 reported this year as of Thursday, according to the Epidemiological Unit, Ministry of Health.

Pictures show Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, former Deputy Minister for Highways Mervyn Silva and deputy Health Minister Mahinda Amaraweera assisted in spraying the BTI at the State Engineering Corporation.

May it please be definitely recorded – if Mervin was found GUILTY that would have been the end of Rajapaksa dynasty. Like Angels, even government parliamentarians/ministers fear to tread on Mervin’s path. One can bet without fear of contradiction, that Merv the Perv will be our next Prime Minister!!!!

In the old days, on the south western coastal belt of the country, filariasis was successfully eradicated by gangs of workmen spraying malathion into drains and other stagnant water, supervised by public heath inspectors.
Filariasis too was spread by mosquitos.
Much earlier, malaria, also mosquito borno, and which killed 35,000 in 1935, was eradicated in similar manner.
Today, these activities are transformed into political tamashas.
    People like Mervyn benefit.

All that is left for the dumb SL’s to chant is saadhu saadhu and one more saadhu, to the valiant dengue fighter Dr. Mervyn Silva

What a man, what a following, and what a trance that he holds everyone in.

What is it that makes him Mervyn Silva

May he live on to fight mosquitos.

Best would be to create a Ministry, for the eradication of mosquitos and other vermin, and make Dr. Silva its minister

After all he is a doctor, aint he ?

    Doctor of medicine? no

Doctor of letters? no ( has he studied at all?)

then what on earth is he a doctor of……. who conferred this doctorate on this clown?

Which University???. which chancellor?? stand up and be identified

Or has he also been exterminated by the mosquito fighter ??

  15. ruwanf

  17. MOHAMED ASFAR

i hate to see him in public again. dear president, if he come back i will never vote for you. promise.

  18. BASSA

I am not a fan of Mervin or I don’t accept his act, that tie a person to a tree.

But what I admire is, he is doing something…………..

THAT IS WHAT WE WANT FROM A POLITION.
WE DON’T NEED GOOD POLITITONS WHO DO NOTHING AFTER 5 YEARS

    • Ashoka Jayalath

Bassa – imagine all politicians go around dispensing instant justice like Mervin. We will be in medievil times, right?

  20. dickhead

They should first some BTI larvicide on merwin himself, as rumours have it that he is diagnosed with a very rare disease called “pissutitis” which cannot be treated only spraying BTI larvicide on himself will help him to control his sadistic and firghtful actions.

  21. Che Guevara
