There is nobody even in jail to defeat him, with what he did to eliminate terrorism, the public will not trust just any man with a gob over him. Just like JR, MR is amending the constitution for his benefit. Had JR thought about the people, he shouldn’t have changed the constitution in the first place. With JR providing an example, everybody wants to emulate him by playing with the constitution when they have 2/3. That’s abuse of power.

The proposed amendment will not meet the requirements of the public. But the empowers are still under control of the presidency. It might lead to a autocrat rule.

MR and his party presented a different manifesto in the presidential and the parliamentary elections. These amendments are never mentioned. Therefore, the people have to understand that MR is not trustworthy politician. I respectfully question the Maha sangha, that supported MR’s campaigns, “What is your answer to these excesses of MR”. MR and his party may have won the elections through deceits and lies, but they have not won the “HEARTS and the MINDS” of the people of Sri Lanka. He has all the right to play or adjust the constitution, provided it is approved by a general referundum.
Maha Sanga is a bloody joke, those bald headed kunts should be tied together and flgged. It is these hateful inbred village fools that want a free ride through life that are ruining sri lanka. The curse of our country is most of its citizens are fools, they may be “literate”, which is mistaken to be “educated”.

Are you speaking from the JVP HQ? What is the point of a referendum? It will cost a billion rupees but do you really think the people will vote against MR? From Alimankada to Pamankada and from Kilinochchi to medawachchi, people will vote for him. the people lost in 1978 when JR made a anti-people constitution and the people will lose again this time when MR strenthens that same constitution. The problem is the oppositrion lost the credibility during the war. Now nobody listens to them. There is no solution to this now, unless at least if the educated people could elaborate the dangers of this vile constitution to the Maha Sangha asking them to get involved, this will lead to a sad phase of the country.
MR is just fulfilling his desires in his own discretion by using his victory on tigers. Ths is the truth. People who worship him as a king/Savoir will be made understand his autocray sooner.

Only traitors will support an amendment which paves the way for a dictatorship. JR’s constitution which gave so much power to the Executive, at least limited it to 2 terms. This man, having realized what power really means, does not want any such limits and may end up being ‘Mugabe of Zimbabwe’!
The 17th amendment which curbed the powers of the Executive through the Constitutional Council will no longer function impartially, as the 18th amendment will clip its wings by giving the Executive the sole right to appoint its members. Then, why do we need a Constitutional Council now? We might as well allow the Executive to wield the “Deli Pihiya” in the way he so desires!
The 18th Amendment will make a ‘mockery of ‘democracy’. With the traitors in the UNP giving strength to the hands of this egocentric and insensitive President, we have only the Gods above to stop this folly.

When presidential election stupid Rupavahini and ITN showed Hitler movies and compared SF with Hitler. Now what’s happening??? What’s the different between MR and Hitler? Lankan President seems misusing power in the name of sidelining TAMIL Tigers. It’s the real indication that the president is moving towards autocracy. You cannot put the country in your grip in the name of freeing them from some unrreconnised political minority group like Tamil in Sri Lanka. Is not this amendment paving way to the Dictatorship ? You should not try to capture power and amending constitution against the the people’s will (the bribed law makers can’t always be the peopl’s representatives even though they claim themselves to be). Although there is nobody to challenge him, the great deceptor, who used the Army General for his means and sent him to jail when it came the moments the army chief challenged him to the top post of the country. President should use his popularity for strengthing Democracy and bringing and implementing the social and economic reforms in the civil war affected country in the South Asia.
Rajapaksha family is the only hope for sri lanka. No patriot can trust Ranil( if they know about peace accord with tigers), Sarath F( for betraying country to west and to proTigers. JVP are dump asses and sell their parents for power.
Mahinda was and still is clearly the best candidate for the top job. We owe him big-time for how he planned and executed the annihilation of terrorism from the country. Only folks who live in Sri Lanka will be able to true appreciate it.
However, this is going too far. It is as good as dissolving the parliament and letting Maninda decide on everything – going back to ancient times.
For that, I will no longer vote for MR.
