SLFP Celebrates 59th Anniversary (Photos)
The SLFP celebrated its 59th anniversary at Temple Trees yesterday (2).
The President addressed over 15,000 people at the event. He explained that the aim of the constitutional amendments was to strengthen democracy, rather than simply extending his tenure for a third term. Rajapaksa added that the aim in deleting the clause pertaining to term limits would give the people more candidates to choose from.

What does this statement mean “rather than simply extending his tenure for a third term”. Did he have an idea like that. He seems to have got intoxicated with power. He further says that the aim in deleting the clause pertaining to term limits would give the people more candidates to choose from. While agreeing to this, should he not think of having an independent Election Commission so that there is free and fair election and put an end to the governing party abusing the power by making use
of the resources of the state for its propaganda work and using the national media such as Rupvahini, all state radio stations, all government vehicles, government servants and even the Police and Army. If what I have said like putting in place the Election Commission and refrain from using the state resources are incorporated in the Amendment then democracy will be strengthened. Otherwise this amendment is attempt towards dictatorship.
Come on give him a break…We created the world First Trillion man and he is untouchable…..with these changers he will be world first life time President….
Why are you worrying about Dictatorship!!
All the curses of the people be upon MR and this party for robbing the people of their democracy and countires wealth. A man that has not even started his second term, is driven by greed to allocate another term for himself and family. May not even a hair be spared of this devil.
Long live SLFP!!!!!
Not for long…..Soon it is going to be SLRP!!! SrI lanka Rajapaksa party…..
I will say Long live The KIng Rajapaksa
A notable absense is formar president Chandrika Bandaranayake Kumaranatunge.
BANDA’ AND SIRIMA’S PHOTOS THERE,BUT NOT CHANDRIKA’S.GOOD,WHY CHANDRIKA APPOINTED HIM AS PRIME MINISTER WHILE MANY QUALIFIED PERSONS WERE THERE?.GOOD PUNISHMENT FOR FOR THE STUPID WOMAN.
The big joker is planning to clip Chandrika’s wings (the same fate as SF). Who knows she may be dumped in the same cell. Only time will tell!!!!
