JHU and NFF Support Amendments
The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) today (6) officially announced the party’s decision to support the constitutional amendments proposed by the government.
JHU Secretary and Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told a press conference today that the party would vote in favor of the constitutional amendments in parliament this week.
Meanwhile, the JHU also called for the appointments to the independent commissions like Bribery, Elections and Judicial Services under the proposed 18th amendment to be void of politics and be independent.
Meanwhile, the National Freedom Front (NFF) also announced its support to the government’s constitutional amendments and that the proposed amendments are a step to take the country forward.
NFF Leader and Minister Wimal Weerawansa told a press briefing at the party headquarters today that while the constitutional amendments are to be carried out in three stages one needed to look at the whole process before criticizing it.
Weerawansa has said the next stage is to form an Executive Prime Ministerial post that would be answerable to parliament.
Referring to the controversy surrounding the extension of the number of terms of office held by an Executive President, Weerawansa said the number of terms of office held by an Executive President depended on the voters.

What else to expect from these two parties. If they voted against, they will be booted out by MR from the cabinet portfolios and other lucrative projects given to them. They all will loose their ill gotten privileges. So voting with the corrupt lot is the only choice. But they have forgotten, MR has to go before the people and get elected. It is strongly doubtful; the people of Sri Lanka will trust this man again. UPFA’ +NFF +JHU +Other anti democratic forces will face the same fate that JVP is in now. They have won recognition for the mega infrastructure projects but they have miserably failed to win the hearts and minds of people and address the basic economic needs.
Stupid anti social baskets in SriLankan politics.
JATHIKA HELA KARUMAYA. These puka dena yellow robbers must be stoned to death.
How come your comments were published by the editor.
Also remember, thanks to JHU,we have rid the LTTE & its supporters like YOU.
I don’t like JHU and the current SL Govt. at all. BUT I’m thankful to JHU for initiating the war against terrorism.
what else you can expect from them in the strong ruling side.
Hela Karumaya – Bloody traitors. Fooling in yellow. wait and see next time your party will have no seat.
We should not have any of these fellows in partiament. Their job is not in parliament.
It is Srilankan Sinhalese Buddhist Foolishness those Srilankan Number One Grade “Yellow Robers” making this country a mess by engaging in Politics “Easy Way Of Living”.Free Food, Free Lodging, Free Money. Next time they ask “Free Woman”Wait and See. If Buddhist stop offering “Free Food” to this “Cheaters” we can solve this problem.
I’m a devout Catholic, and I know it’s the Buddha Sangha who always safeguaded SL nation. I think people on this forum have to be careful to not include all the Buddhist monks in the category of the handful of political monks. Again, I’m grateful to JHU but for one reason: They are the ones who initiated the war against terrorism.
Thugs in Yellow must be stoped from entering politics. Sir John’s theory will work perfectly on them. Too much fat from free food.
anything new?these clowns cannot win a seat if they contest on their own now so hang on whatever happens to the country it their glory and power, they cannot compromise,
Dear Friends ,please do not humiliate the NOBLE YELLOW ROBE please
Noble????u gotta be kidding me!!!
Dear Jhosua,
I want to clear your mind. It is the JVP who forced MR the war over terrorism. this is a very truth in SriLankan politics. MR has expressed his 40 years of experience. But I feel he doesn’t have at least 04 years of experience in Dynamics of politics which was the basic fundamental theory of the late Hon.Rohana Wijeweera.
Very True – 40 years exp! 40 is a just a number. First 7 years under Sirimao is just a learning process for him. Actually there was nothing to learn in those 7 cursed years. Then the next 17 years UNP and i wonder what he did, People didnt know him in Hambantota district itself, maybe some peole did beacause of the senior Rajapakse. He came to lime light under CBK as a labour minister during her first term and then knowing the man, CBK too kept him a side. So where is 40 years exp????? Thanks to JVP that MR became someone. Had it not for JVP……well MR maybe doing some uncle characters in meaningless teledramas.
Natural they are cohorts of MR, bound to support otherwise they will lose their power & perks.
Very few Buddhist monks(lessthan 10) and MR have completed the subjective factors for a social uprising in the country. The opposition should re-organise democratically using Non Vialence as an unique force,
