Two More JVPers Arrested
The police have arrested two JVP members while distributing leaflets on the proposed 18th amendment among people in the Nuwara Eliya town.
The party last week launched a leaflet distribution campaign to create awareness among the public about the government’s proposed constitutional amendments and its adverse impact on the country.
JVP sources said that among the two party members arrested by the police are a JVP candidate for the local government elections. The police had arrested the two JVPers yesterday.
They had been detained at the Kandy Police last night and released without any charges.
Meanwhile, two JVP members were also arrested by the police in Jaffna while pasting posters about the 18th amendment in the Jaffna town a few days earlier.
Why does this guy need more powers?
What more is he asking. He already got the parliament, the justice system, the forces, the police and even the electoral process…
He could arrest anyone for no valid reason and prosecute them with or without evidence.

I cannot understand why UNP is not organising an island wide protest being the largest party. Its not only JVP’s duty to make awareness programs. At lease JVP is going its best as an opposition.
