JVPers Traveling To Colombo For Protest Stopped
JVP members traveling to Colombo from the outstations to attend the party’s protest in Borella today (7) against the 18th Amendment have been stopped by the police.
According to JVP sources, at buses carrying JVP supporters to Colombo from Anuradhapura, Chilaw and Puttalam have been stopped by the police.
JVP North Central Provincial Councilor Anura Dissanayake told The Sunday Leader that the Anuradhpura Police near the 2nd Mile Post junction had stopped the bus with JVP supporters from the Anuradhapura District.
“The police stopped and said they needed to check the bus for explosives. They called the Bomb Disposal Squad. After they checked the bus, the police is now insisting that the bus be checked by sniffer dogs. However, the police have told us they cannot release the bus as the dogs are unable to arrive at the scene due to lack of vehicle to transport them,” he said.
Dissanayake said the JVP members are carrying out a protest on the road where the police stopped the bus.
The main protest of the JVP is scheduled to be held at the Ayurvedha roundabout in Rajagiuriya, Borella at 3 p.m.
Is that the democracy we need by giving two thard majority.
JVPers must be commended for their effort and conviction, however futile it may look.
Remember how JR, Sugathadasa and Premadasa organized several Satyagraha’s and walk the whole distance from Kandy to Colombo. Ranil is too lazy to do that. Fire Ranil. Kick him out.
So, there is something to hide in the Ammendments
Silly JVP, cant they figure out any other way to get down their supporters to Colombo for this meeting, other than the entire lot in buses ???

Vasu is getting on a bit! The JVP and Vasu are doing an exactly the same job. Vasu is staying in the government and JVP are staying out but all what they want is, something to fight forever, that’s the legacy of left politics. The so intelligent lot like NM, Colvin and Wickremasinghe did not groom a good second leadership (not even their children were brought into politics!), but left that job for the public. The public moved away from leftist politics. What we are left with is the folks like Vasu and the JVP, the scum of the left!
At least JVP is doing what they can to inform the public about the negativity of the amendments and to protest about it. The only party that seem to understand the threat on democracy. Most people does either not understand the consequences, do not understand the proposition or are too lazy to react. “Let someone else do the job” seem to be the general idea in Sri Lanka, including yours own! Well you don’t have to love JVP to realice that they are the only guys who do anything. They are better now since the great opportunist Weemal left them anyways…

Our representatives in parliament have failed us miserably by being bought over, bullied over or simply choosing to preserve their perks rather than stand up for what is right.
The sanctimonious kept press trumpets that this is what the people want. WHAT PEOPLE. Only 55% voted at the election and of that the government received 65% which means the got a mandate of about 38% the scum living in this country. They had to bribe, threaten, blackmail and extract the voes of the lowest form of scumbags in parliament to get their 2/3 majority. No wonder all educated people are deserting this country in droves as we are a society full of scumbags, rogues, and maggots feeding on scraps handed down to us by rulers not fit to shovel S+?T.
For all those who are supporting this President, I say that if he is an honest individual, he should allow a secret ballot. Then we will know how many
will vote for this bill, without fear.
