Dayan On The UNP’s 65th Anniversary (Sunday Preview)
This Sunday, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka has an analysis of the current political situation called ‘Get A Grip’. As a short preview here are some of his comments on the current state of the UNP as symbolized by its reduced 65th anniversary celebrations. This post also include a photo gallery from that event.
President Jayewardene would never in his worst nightmares, have thought that the 65th anniversary of the United National Party would have been commemorated in the Centre named after him. The Jayewardene Centre was used for exhibitions and gatherings of Friendship societies etc, and not the anniversaries of the UNP which can usually fill an indoor stadium. It is not as if Mahinda Rajapakse used state repression to reduce the numbers attending the UNP anniversary celebration. No, it has taken Ranil Wickremesinghe to confine to the Jayewardene Centre auditorium, what used to be the country’s largest single political party!

Some time back ago Evangelist Rosy Senanayake distributed Bibles in a state-run school in Maradana where the majority of students were Buddhists and Muslims. No request for Bibles had been made by the school authorities. The parents complained about this unwarranted conversion attempt causing a group of Buddhist monks to rush to the school and seize the Bibles. Buddgists do not go distributing Dhammapada or other Buddhist literature in Christian schools and homes.
Guys….guys… pls…. always remember that we are all human beings and all the religions teach us one thing. don’t go to the extreme as it wont do any good for anybody!
In Srilanka the religion is for every thing( Agama Abi wage-Karl Marx).
TODAY WHO CARES RELIGIONS?.CAN YOU FIND BUDDHISTS WHO ARE NOT EATING MEAT?.CAN YOU FIND BUDDHIST MONKS WHO ARE NOT EATING MEAT?.ACTUALY,SRI LANKA IS A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY,THERE ARE NO BUDDHISTS THERE,TEMPLES ARE WRONGLY NAMED AS BUDDHIST TEMPLES,BUT ACTUALY ‘BUDDHIST CHURCHESS’.
The article is about 65th aniversary of UNP. The comments are about religions. Just like the reasons given by some MPs when they were asked why they voted for 18A.
Yeah.. Prageeth, palipana & OBSERVER ??!?! WTH ?? This is what they say in sinhalese “koheda yanne, malle pol” Seriously guys, read before you comment. If you want to comment on anti-christian stuff just go on to some buddhist chatroom and all of you haters can get together and start hating.
