Ranawaka Attends 136th Birthday Celebrations (Photos)
Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka attended the 136th birthday celebrations of ‘the father of hydro-power energy’ D J Wimalasurendra today.
Wimalasurendra fought to have a small hydro power station built harnessing the waters of the Kirivaneliya (now Laxapana) waterfall. He made significant contributions to the hydro power generation industry.
The celebrations were held at the Electricity Board in Fort. Ranawaka ceremoniously garlanded a commemmorative bust of Wimalasurendra. He also spoke at the event.

Jesus is sacred to all Christians and Muslims numbering over 3.6 billion in the world with over 50% of world population of 6.8 billion. All of those know who Jesus is. He is the savior for all of them. AT the world’s end all of these 3.6 billion people will be waiting for Jesus to arrive for judgment. So ask anyone of those 3.6 billion and they will tell you. And at the end of world all the believers ( ie 3.6 b people ) will be one religion.

Jesus was born a human being. Christians believe or tend to that Mary was conceived by the “oly Spirit”,whatvever He is.. Mary had a husband whose name was Joseph. a carpenter. Perhaps he may have fathered Jesus. as it is well known fact in nature that one has to be impregnated to conceive.

Please do not discribe deep pinciples of buddhism in this way. As you said “MAIN PRINCIPLES OF BUDDHISM,SUCH AS AVOID EATING MEAT” is not stated anywhere in buddhism, instead we have to avoid killing or harm others including animals.
If you avoid meat, no doubt that is good. But simply because it is good, you cannot discribe it as a MAIN PRICIPLE OF BUDDHISM. As you said ealier, there are thousands of books explain the main principles of buddhism – The four noble truth. At last this topic is out of tract.
We should try to undertand the better aspect of the work (done by Ranawaka or anybody) before jump and blame. Be patient. It is useless commenting as the first saying “THIS RANAWAKA GUY IS A MEAT EATING SO CALL ‘BUDDHIST’”. Abstain from speaking useless things (no benift to self or others) is well appreciated in buddhism. May be other religions too.

I was under the impression that my father, ACH Pereira, was the father of Hydro-Power in SL. All the same, things happen with teamwork anyhow.
I recollect fishing and sailing on these dams and lakes as a kid in the sixties while my father did his work as Chief Engineer for the project(s). Strange that now in adult life I live on such dams and lakes and still fish and boat, albeit, in far far away places from such childhood memories.
Hey guys…. what a pathetic show. Instead of commomorating this visionary great engineer’s birthday of our nation we drop to low level language to insult each other.
He was instrumental in developing hydro resources in Kelani River and also starting Ceylon Electricity Board as a seperate Government Department.
ranawaka will be the father of “LADAPPA” power in Sri Lanka if he could survive his ministry portfolio for another couple of years
There is lot of animosity and bad language and character assassination rather than a valuable comment. I appreciate what Champika is doing with the electricity board. I think he has a vision how to rebuild the Electircity Board. He appreciates the people who work at CEB and their skills. He did a great job with the ministry of environmental affairs. I hope the current minister will maintain and improve on his policies. The problems we are experiencing could not solve overnight. We need to appreciate people like D. J. Wimalasurendra. They dedicated their lives for a better future. We should support Champika for his good work. Since Mahinda Rajapakse came to power we did not experience any major power failures. Do we have to remind the people how often we had power failures before 2006? Think about just that achievement by this govt.
I love Salmon, its healthy and slimming food. I have been looking for better ways to prepare this dish for a while. These days I make sure that the Fish that I buy is from sustainable fishing sources. Not mentioning Japanese food made with raw Salmon.
