Sri Lanka To Field 16 Players For Asia Youth Badminton

Eight boys and eight girls will be representing Sri Lanka at the ANA Badminton Asia Youth Championships 2010 scheduled to get underway in Chiba, Japan from October 29 to November 1. Nippon Badminton Association (NBA) together with Chiba Badminton Association will organise this event under the auspices of the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) and will be for Under 15 and 17 age categories.
The Sri Lanka Schools’ Badminton Association and  Badminton Association have carried out selection trials among the pre quarter finalists of the recently concluded Junior Nationals and announced the teams last week.
Sri Lankan teams for Asian Youth badminton:
Under 15 (Boys) — Chamika Karunarathna (Royal College), Buwaneka Gunathilake, Pramodya Ranaweera (Richmand College, Galle), Sachin Dias (St Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa)
Under 15 (Girls) –   Thilini Pramodika Hendahewa (Yasodara Balika MV), Ilmi Warangana de Silva (Visaka Vidyalaya), Lihini Wijesinghe (Yasodara BMV), Yasmitha Dayarathna (Musaeus College)
Under 17 (Boys) – Omal Vishwanath Dharmawardana ( S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia),  P.K. Hettiarchchi (Dharmaraja College, Kandy), Damitha Yatawara (D.S. Senanayake) , D.L. Madusha de Silva (St. Peters’ College)
Under 17 (Girls) – Achini Rathnasiri, Oshadi Kuruppu (Visaka Vidyalaya), Kavidi Ishadika, Upuli Samanthika (Sirimavo Bandaranaike MV) — HW
