Four Alleged Conspirators Discharged
The Colombo Magistrate today (24) released three Army officers and a journalist who were arrested for allegedly conspiring against the government with former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.
The Magistrate discharged Major General Upali Edirisinghe, Major General Sunil Silva, Brigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana and journalist Ruwan Weerakoon.
The CID had submitted a report to the additional Magistrate Mahi Wijeweera informing courts that they would not be proceeding with the case following advise from the Attorney General’s Department.
Just harassing, these CID officers arrest without proper proof should be stopped in the first place
Justice done!
Now, discharge en. Fonseka, too. How long can this charade go on?
This is what is known as the blatant misuse of the Emergency Regulations. Government controlled lackey CID can arrest ANYONE under the pretext of national security , hold them indefinitely with trumped up charges, (Most often they do not even have a charge they just say investigations are being carried out) and our pathetic, spineless, moronic, ponnaya of an opposition leader continue to support this unnecessary emergency regulations by not voting against it. What more proof is needed that this fool is in the pocket of the government.
Its pathetic to see that senile old dotard of a prime minister trying to justify the continuation of the emergency regulations and our opposition exiting from the parliament at the time the vote is being taken to extend the emergency.
Its more than one year since the war ended and NOT ONE single incident has occurred to justify imposition of emergency regulations other than to harass those who oppose the bigot family rule.
The people of this country seem to enjoy the fact that their rights are being trampled, their freedom curtailed, their incomes declining, their rulers massing filthy riches at their expense and the future of our children going down the drain.
Winston Churchill was dumped at the very next election after World war 2 was won because the people of that country are educated enough to make rational and not emotional decisions when voting at elections.
SRI LANKA DOES NOT NEED EMERGENCY REGULATIONS ANYMORE AS THESE ARE BEING USED ONLY TO FACILITATE THE DESPOTIC RULE OF ONE FAMILY AND EVERY VOTE AND OPPOSITION IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE AGAINST IT SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT AT ALL COST.
Phew, that was one very pissed off gentleman.And why not? Every word he uttered was the gospel truth. We have a govt. full of imbeciles and we have an opposition full of imbeciles, the leader being the worst of the lot and we the people squashed between them!!!!
