JHU: Thousands Of Displaced Sinhalese In The North

The JHU has said that more than 150,000 Sinhalese families have been displaced in the North and East due to the war.

JHU Leader Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thero has been quoted in the BBC as saying that more than 150 Sinhalese families are stranded in the Alfred Duraiyappa stadium and Railway Station in Jaffna, as they have not been allowed to settle in their lands.

The JHU has said that the displaced Sinhalese families have necessary legal documentation to prove ownership to their lands.

However, Resettlement Minister Milroy Fernando has said that he was not aware of displaced Sinhalese families being stranded in Jaffna.

Is JHU a racist organisation? Irrespective of what they stand for they should work towards achieving harmony among Tamils, Muslims and Sinhalese. They should come up with a plan to settle all not only Sinhalese but Muslims and Tamils too. If they do a good job of talking on behalf of all groups only can there be a peaceful Sri Lanka. They should practice what they preach in Buddhism I urge JHU to work on behalf of all so that the Northern Community can be an example of how different ethnic groups live in harmony to the rest of the world.

Is this like “Mathata thitha” or “Anyagamkaranaya” . We can remember this JHU hanging to these popular concepts from time to time to gain popularity. Now after several weeks those displaced sinhalese stranded in Jaffna railway station, JHU has suddenly realized theres something to be gain here which can be used deceive Sinhala Buddhists! We tell JHU to stop bragging about this at media and do something concrete to this problem. At least visit them!
