Really? The Government should appoint a committee to look into bribery for all the ministers, Government Officials and Police irrespective of their position.

  2. MP

This is good work by the police. Irespective of popularity law should upheld in this country. RR is always been a dubious charactor in politics. Try to get petty political gains using stranded housemaids while deceiving women and robbing money promising marriage. This is parliment jokes no 03. The man thinks he is a macho and speaks like a hero finaly caught in the act!

    • Sarath

It is amazing how some people refuse to see that ‘law is upheld’ only for those who oppose the government. What good is the law if everyone is not equal before it? At the moment, law is used as a weapon to silence opposing voices. They have been successful in silencing the media. Now they are after the politicians. Guess who’ll be next in line. The same people who complain about UNP government’s abuse of power in the 80s are just fine when the crimes are committed by the party that they support.

      Unbelievable!!!

    • Hello Pathum

Are you writing this from Mars?

    • This is his next film “Gon Shot”

My dear friends, this got nothing to do with the ‘King’. Give few calls to California and find out the truth. There many who thinks he will pay them back when he becomes a Minister under Ranil.

    • bbb

yea ,better to call California & find out how Rajapakse performing there. This all poor peoples money who work pretty hard. Govt arresting oppositions parties while they do the same.

  7. P.L.J.B.Palipana

Now it is the Time to be the Law & Order in the country. The SL Police must act independently to tacle that kind of deliquents.

  8. Banda

Thank you UNP for nominating this man to be the chief minister in North Central Province?? Some one suggesting Million rupees is nothing, He must be a ‘bath gotta’ of UNP fame.

[This is good work by the police. ]

BS. How can police arrest people selectively..Orders from the top may be?

  10. Tim

but still , “innocent till proven guilty” ..right?..

  11. chandran-kandy

In Iraq Sadam Hussain, the former President, who also misused his Ministers and several his opposition members severely & threatening the world during his period.Ultimately he found guilty by the International Laws in his forbidding actions. Will it happen in Sri-Lanka too after some time?

  12. Lakpriya Lankaputhra

What a country and what an intelligent polulation !! Thery convict and hang a person once he is arrested !! Anything committed against opposition members is justifiable !!! All Kudu karayas and thugs and criminals in ministerial positions. That is OK !!!

  13. Carlo

Well done police!! One million rupees. WOW !! He should be incarcerated!! But any ways good job on the countless felonies done by Mr Dutugamunu and the billions spent on Mihin lanka by honorable minister Mr Gunawardana. Lets not forget the leading figure in the country spending 15% of the annual health budget on an assembly meeting which did not last a week. But hey that’s ok. Oh but finally lets also not forget the wise people who elected these fruit cakes in our lovely Banana Republic.

Not only must justice be done but it must also appear to have been done. Sadly whatever credibility of the Sri Lankan Police have been flushed down the toilet by this government and those before, and this is the importance of the independent police commission. Speak to your average Sri lankan man on the road and ask his opinion of our police force and the reply will most likely be : “Jara pappala” (Bribe takers), Horu, (Rogues), wedak neti yakku, (Useless devils), deshapalana goondala, (Political goons) and other words that are unprintable.
Look at our parliament, as long as you support the Rajapakshas whatever your crime is the Police will not peruse your case, for example The killers of Nalanda Ellawala, The Killer of a JVP supporter recently now with the Nidahas Peramuna, The Vermin MP, The Nawalapitiya Goon, The Killer of Joel Pera, basically the sky is the limit for your crimes as long as you support the Rajapaksha’s, but if you are against the Rajapaksha’s the most Frivolous of charges are enough to land you behind bars.
And with the 18thA in place things can only get worse.

    • Ruwan Ferdinandez

You got your facts in a twist here. The parliament always had a similar composition since 1980s. Even during Ranil’s short stint as the PM, most these guys you mentioned were MPs. When Joel Pera was killed, Rajapakse hadn’t even dreamt of becoming the President perhaps. More than Pera there were people who cared about all Sri Lankans like Vijaya Kumarathunge, Denzil Kobbekaduwa, Wijaya Wimalarathne, Lalith Athulathmudali and the President Premadasa himself. They all were killed mysteriously as well, none of the cases have been investigated properly. In most cases there was a powerful political handle somewhere. 18A or not, the presidential system has brought so much misery to the country, regardless of the man or the woman wearing that presidentail costume.

  17. Chris

This is not something special, part of idiot politician. who has no basic idea of politics. So now the time to think about clean and inteligen political system
not thougs, actor. singers or business political system.country is developing we need real politician can work with country develolpment. let him to face to the low. appoint good guy loyal to county and people.

  18. Ashok

Fortune smiles in his face who knows ? Just say sorry and denounce past politics and …..sky’s the limit for Ranjan !

  19. muzammil

some financial dealing could have taken place between the two on some
conditions or purely on trust. In either case, one party seeks justice from the
other through legal means.why do we jump to conclusions simply because
of news high light?Financial deals end up in failures quite often and Ranjan is no exception to that even though he’s an actor turned MP.There’s plenty of time for him to come clean out of it.May be,just may be this has other motives behind, who knows.Anything possible in the paradise!

  20. ponna bible

How about Duminda and Thilanga and Rauf Hakkem. Why they outside bars when they also cheated women.

  21. pathum

Yeah law in this country has two faces that I agree. For Rajapaksans theres one law and for non Rajapaksans theres other law. That doesn’t mean a person who is commited crime should not be punished because hes an anti Rajapaksas. On the other hand criminals have been pardoned by the the king himself considering the great service they done to country. Such the way our dear King take law n order in the country. The truth is however most of the robbers and criminals in the parliment and and their supporters at PC and other places should be in jail for the crimes they made against not one but the entire populations by stealing their money and the crimes (including murders) they committed!

  22. Real kello never liked Ranjan. He was never a heart throb of women. Look at him! Ugly mouth, ugly nose and stupid body. He thinks he is hero. Swallen headed self made body builder. Moowa hondai ponnayanta.

He came to politics to join the other side ‘coz he was not given any place by his own Aunt (not blood related anyway) Chandrika.
