UNP: IPU May Condemn Sri Lanka

UNP MP Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena says Sri Lanka may stand to be condemned by a large number of foreign countries.

He told the media today (17) that in the event the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) finds former Army Commander and DNA MP Sarath Fonseka’s human rights to have been violated, Sri Lanka will be condemned by 151 countries.

Dr. Jayawardena handed a complaint to the IPU in Geneva on behalf of Fonseka last week.

The complaint had noted the alleged harassment faced by Fonseka and his imprisonment following a court martial.

Kalaveddo……..Do you think that our country has image? Nonsense…. It has been already tarnished by our leaders by begging….Robing & violating of human rights. Now we are like barbarians.

So you are happy! You are not second to Ranil or Tigers, same campaign you all carry outside the country. Shame on you.

    Dr JJ.
With great sorrow I read your accomplishments trying to tarnish my motherland in World Audience. You be shamed for the support and connections you had with LTTE. You are the man during Ranils time had connections with many top level LTTES leaders. How many of your family members were massacred by the LTTE?
I am sure it’s none. That’s the bottom line. Now you cry for SF!
You have more than two tongues.

      Malraj:

Have you forgetten that the current current allies with former LTTERs. Can you tell how many LTTER’s are treated with honor while SF is in prison? If you are honest, you can tell that.

This joker seems happy that at last he managed to discredit SL… where he failed at the time of war despite many attempts..

  5. Sue

I raise my hat to you JJ.

  6. Ranjith

Please do anything to restore demacracy in Sri Lanka without which no accountability, transparency .The constitution created by JR is bad for the country as visible now and police judiciary and election dept and public service should be free from politics

  7. raj

i guess IPU also should condemn the people who commttted war crimes and human right violations and Lasantha’s murder.

Being under western powers for many decades Sri Lankans, even now, believe they are our masters and are better equip to arbitrate and resolve our local issues rather than by locals. This is a very pathetic situation and this mind set cannot be erased completely. UNP’s attempt to go to IPU is a clear example. Why UNP and JVP failed to discuss with the MR’s government and resolve this SF issue? I could see these mobs are power hungry and want to come to power even at the expense of tarnishing the image of Sri Lanka and also its citizens. UNP and JVP did not have a credible leader to contest against MR; this is why they brought SF to contest presidential election by brainwashing him and exploiting the situation (SF’s fallout with MR) at that time.

    Hai Jayalath
We know you went to north to give our mother land free on a platter.
You are sadly another Jathi Drohiya (the greai traitor’s brother). You got norwaigion bribes to bark at your owen county men.
You know you should have been hanged to death for the things you done to the country.
So double crossing bat shut up …………..

So you think that violating human rights for fabricated reasons is quite OK. But the victim has no rights to complain it to the rest of the world? Is this the democracy these MR suckers want to push on us?

  11. David

why people still vote these jokers. As a UNP voter , i totally reject this type of idiots ..This man should be punish for tarnishing sri lanka’s image. And now Ranil is in world tour for the same purpose.

  12. Wijebahu

Everybody who are not happy with JJ should know tanishing the countrys image and making leaders of this country to do the right thing are not the same. Here what JJ is doing is the later one. We should commend him for taking up this issue to the international arena. We have a arrogant leader who is intoxicated with power doing whatever he wishes. Accoding to him two different laws should exist for oppostion and the ruling party where oppostion members are the only ones who breaks the law.

This country means much to me and I will never leave it. But we are human beings before being subjects of this Iniquitous State. Jayalath J.’s attempts are very necessary and in this interdependent world let us hope he succeeds in restoring our rights.

  13. Neil

Good on you JJ, this is the only way to put pressure on the govt and re-establish democracy in Sri Lnaka

  14. Ela Kolla

All you people who howl about sri lankas reputation and how this guy is tarnishing its image etc etc.. where were you when a war hero was being dragged through the mud?? just cos someone didn’t fly overseas and tell the international community you think they didn’t know?? what you idiots fail to understand is that, it is not this man who is tarnishing our image it is the power craving so called royal family that’s making our country a laughing stock.. What JJ is doing is necessary for the protection of SF’s rights.. all you people have a misplaced sense of patriotism.. dats the problem..

Those who have made comments against Dr Jayalath doesnt consider the reality.

At present there is no place where not only Sarath Fonseka, Ranil and Jayalth could hear their grievience locally.

I have a question to all the negative commentator.

Tell us a single case that government has lost since Mahinda Rajapaksa lost in Sri Lanka? Every case filed against anti-government people are sure of winning because of the biased judiciary and pro-government attorney-general.

Genermen, rather than finding fault with Dr Jayalath, try to our land with your genuine eyes – not with sunglasses.

This is a good opportunity for us see how many Tamil parliamentarian were killed including inside the church on the day there was mid-night mass.

Once again, look at the grievience without your biased mind.

Dr Jayalath is more patriots than any of us that is why he left his good practice as a medical doctor and spending time with ordinary people.

    Be gererous in your comments.

  16. Sinhaya

Naturally – with unpatriotic traitors like this Jayalath fellow and his leader RW who goes around the world snitching about their motherland! These jokers are proving what the UNP really stands for !
