UNP To Propose Amendments To LG Electoral Reforms

The UNP is to propose amendments to the bill presented to parliament by the government last week on local government electoral reforms.

UNP MP and Spokesperson Gayantha Karunathileka told the media that the party will submit amendments to the Local Government Bill.

He says the UNP would propose a multiple seat system for the local governments.

Several opposition political parties have opposed the government’s amendments to the local government electoral system.

The TNA has already said it would challenge the bill in court claiming it creates a two party electoral system.

  1. P.L.J.B.Palipana

In reality two parties are more than enough for a very tiny island like SriLanka.

  2. Send your leader to Temple trees with amendmend. With in five years no more UNP, if not elected new leader before local goverment election. No one is there to leadership. No teamwork. All going differance ways.Need a leader like late Gamini Dissanayake who can work with all group.Sajith must learn lot for leadership. Must careful on public talks. All nation need civilised UNP. Not Premadasa or JR leaderships. UPFA is in real trouble. If Gamini Dissanayake or Lalith alive the present goverment is only for two weeks.
