IUSF Asks Help From Bikkhus
By Nirmala Kannangara
The Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) is to solicit the support of the Mahanayaka Theros and opposition political party leaders to get the 21 jailed IUSF members released, acting Convener IUSF, Sanjeewa Bandara told The Sunday Leader.
According to Bandara, the IUSF Bhikku Wing will be meeting the four Mahanayaka Theros this week seeking their intervention to stop the continuous “suppression” of the IUSF and to get the IUSF students released from jail.
“This is the start of a dictatorial regime. They want to suppress university students who fight for their rights. We want the opposition parties to take up the matter in parliament and the Mahanayakas to urge the government to stop this unethical suppression,” Bandara said.
