ILO Assistance Sought

Deputy External Affairs Minister Geethanjana Gunawardene has requested the International Labour Organization (ILO) to assist in strengthening the training facilities available for migrant workers in the country.

Gunawardene had made this request when Officer-in-charge of the ILO Office in Colombo, Sherin Khan had paid a courtesy call on him to discuss ways to strengthen ties between the Sri Lankan Government and the ILO.

The Deputy Minister had also emphasized the importance of re-activating the Advisory Committee which was established in 2009 to oversee the implementation of the National Action Plan, which was part of the National Labour Migration Policy for Sri Lanka.
