Government Plans To Woo Tamil Diaspora Through DAN TV

By Udara Soysa

In a bid to woo the support of the Tamil diaspora, Cabinet Minister and Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) Leader Douglas Devananda has arranged an interview with DAN TV in Sri Lanka.
The interview is said to be an attempt to convince the diaspora to back the EPDP and the Government.
DAN TV is a Tamil language satellite-based TV channel. The local branch is headed by Velayutham Thayanithi, alias Daya Master, as he is more popularly known. Daya Master was once an LTTE media heavyweight. A Tamil who previously worked as a journalist for the Jaffna daily Eelanadu allegedly runs the DAN TV global operations, from his current home base in France.
The government is expected to launch several more public relations initiatives through DAN TV.
There are over 880,000 Tamils living outside Sri Lanka.
