Rains Affect Over 300,000 Persons

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) has reported that the heavy rains experienced in most parts of the country has affected over 300,000 persons.

The DMC has stated that the rains and floods have affected 308,000 persons and 81,000 families.

The most number of victims have so far been reported from the Batticaloa District.

According to the DMC, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Ampara Districts have also been badly affected by the rains.

The rains have destroyed over 1,000 homes and the DMC has recorded one death due to the prevailing weather conditions.
