  • Release Of LTTE Suspect In Kadirgamar Killing

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa have lost their cool with Industries Minister Rishard Bathiudeen at the UPFA party leaders’ meeting held a few weeks back.
Although details about the clash were not immediately available to the media, the incident and details related to it have now come out in the open.
During the meeting, the President had addressed Bathiudeen and had asked him not to violate agreements arrived at by the governing party seniors.

Basil Rajapaksa AND Jaya Sri Ranga

The President had made this comment in reference to Bathiudeen’s move to hand in nominations from the UPFA to the Mullaitivu District when the government had already reached an agreement with UNP MP Jaya Sri Ranga.
According to the agreement, the governing UPFA was not to contest the local government election in the Mullaitivu District while Ranga was to contest the election under the Citizen’s Front with government support.
However, on the final day of nominations, Bathiudeen handed in nominations for the Mullaitivu District on behalf of the UPFA.
Rajapaksa had told Bathiudeen that the decision was made looking at a long term plan in establishing the government’s power base in the North.
He had said that Bathiudeen was given the Mannar and Vavuniya Districts while Ranga was to be given the Mullaitivu District in order to establish a power base for the governing party.
Bathiudeen had not been too pleased to hear the President’s words and had accused Rajapaksa of being biased towards Ranga, who is still an opposition MP, while sidelining the governing party members.
The President had shouted back saying according to the initial plan Bathiudeen would have been able to concentrate on the Mannar and Vavuniya Districts and record a good victory.
An angry President had then told Bathiudeen to now show what he is capable of by winning all three districts.
Bathiudeen had then turned to Basil and said that he should have known better to discuss such an agreement first with governing party leaders. Bathiudeen had said that the governing party leaders should have been asked beforehand.
An angry Basil had then shouted back at Bathiudeen asking him to mind his words. He had asked Bathiudeen to remember that it is he who had saved him from being thrown in jail.
Party leaders have been baffled on hearing the argument.
They have later on found out that Bathiudeen has also reached an agreement with former TNA Parliamentarian Sathasivam Kanagarathnam.
Kanagarathnam was arrested by the security forces in Mullaitivu after the final stages of the war. After spending months in the CID, he was released.
Kanagarathnam joined the UPFA afterwards and even contested the last general election from the governing party. He was not elected to parliament.
Kanagarathnam is now being used by Bathiudeen to manage the government’s campaign for the local government polls in Mullaitivu promising him the release of his son Adithya Kanagarathnam, also known by the aliases Giridaran and Giri, who has allegedly played a key role in the assassination of former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar.
The State Intelligence Service in its investigations has found that Giri had played a key role in the Kadirgamar assassination and had also planned suicide attacks on the President and a senior official in the country’s Defence establishment.

However, Giri, Kanagarathnam’s son was is now in the custody of state authorities.
“Bathiudeen has promised Kanagarathnam that he would help secure his son’s release if he ensures that the governing party wins the local government elections in the Mullaitivu District,” a governing party member said.-

Namal’s Stamps For Buddhika

Namal and Buddhika

The postal stamps given to First Son and Hambantota District MP Namal Rajapaksa are being used by UNP Matara District MP, Buddhika Pathirana.
Every legislator is allocated an equal number of postal stamps by parliament to be used for their mail. Each legislator is entitled to receive 40,000 postal stamps every year during their tenure in parliament. Most often, these postal stamps are sent to the respective parliamentarian’s office and the secretaries use them for official work.
Pathirana however is an excessive user of postal stamps as they are used mostly for the mail related to his foundation. Rajapaksa and another governing party parliamentarian seeing the excessive use of postal stamps by Pathirana have offered him their monthly quotas as well.
Pathirana is known to have close links with Rajapaksa and he now uses the postal stamps allocated for him, Rajapaksa and another governing party MP.

Berty Gives Reminder To PB

P. B. Jayasundara

Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara was last week reminded of how he was appointed to his office by the North Central Province Chief Minister, Berty Premalal Dissanayake.
A meeting with the Chief Ministers from the provinces was organised in Colombo last week. All the chief ministers had attended the meeting.
Several key government officials were also asked to participate in the meeting and among them were Dr. Jayasundara.
However, referring to his hectic schedule, the Treasury Secretary had said that he did not have time to sit at a meeting with the Chief Ministers.
Dr. Jayasundara’s statement had implied that the meeting with the chief ministers was not a priority in his list of duties.
However, angered after hearing about it, Dissanayake had though it fit to remind the Treasury Secretary as to how he was appointed to the office.
Dissanayake had said every governing party member including the chief ministers have worked hard during elections to get the President re-appointed to his office and to bring victory to the party at the general elections.
Dissanayake had reminded Jayasundara that he was appointed to his office by the President who has been re-appointed to the position with the hard work of every party member.
Therefore, Jayasundara was asked to keep in mind that “little detail.”

Bravo Berty! this is a nice line of thought, chief ministers working hard to to reappoint the president, who in turn had appointed the treasury secretary! Well Berty, why didnt you go a step further and record who elected the chief ministers? the common man Berty, the common man!!!, so PB who is paid by the common man (tax payer) is answerable to the people and he only needs to remember this “little detai” and nothing about chief ministers working hard, becouse the chief ministers worked hard to fill their coffers!!!

Bathiudeen came to power through Chandrika when she used him to spread malicious rumours about her enemy Hakeem whos mistress came out into the open about their affair. Bathiuddin cant be trusted and the people who used him for their own purposes will surely let him down sooner or later. I think its alkready happening with his friends in the ruling party.

This is how some do business. Rishard is a typical business guy who even sold UNICEF things in Vavuniya & who will sell us all of us in ‘a whole sale’ or get blow us up one day for just a LG seat? WE SHOULD STOP THIS NONSENSE NOW. This silly one just playing politics with Mp Ranga who is growing from strength to strength every day in the N&East amongst ordinary and educated tamils. After some time, we are starting to get genuine tamil leaders, like Mp Ranga to take their as well as our communities forward.. No more back-steps please.

  6. Gunawardena

It is a well known fact that this Mr Rishard was doing a ‘MONKEY’ business in the camps run by the government and it was proven by the security forces black & white. Vavuniya people caught his lorries with rations heading to Puttalam. That’s what MP Basil was referring to. It is shame this giant thief is still not sacked. This problem was even referred to the Bribary comission with no results yet. PRESIDENT SACK HIM IMMEDIATELY PLS.

Cracks show the rajapases are in to pieces,,, well done. let the UL crack in to pieces and lets see how they will run it….the dodgy deal of Boieng is comming back as well to replace the Airbusses so a Big Cut for the Ministers and the first Son

  9. Shashindra

We Noticed that In Several Occasion This Rishad had done enough forgeries with govt. rehabilitation works. Also His Talks about Ranga Shows How Ranga have reached in peoples mind of Mullaitivu. Within a Short time Ranga Became a hero of Mullaituvu people’s heart. Because He worked with them closer. sofar. This Indicates rishad’s jealous and his inability. So He passes blames to become recognized and again get into a business by the name of Rehabilitation Works.. this is not going to worth.. and also the president should decide whether to keep a black sheep on his side. or send it out.

  10. Afee Moulana

Rishad had forget his early Life and now He is there as a Dep. Min Becacuse of the SLMC former Min. Then He Jumped here and there and finally running his business by his power. Also He even put Blame on Rauf Hakeem and now at Ranga. But now we knew he use to visit Provincial council Members of Opposite Groups and had discussions with them that in case of current govt. Loose he ill join hands with them and work together.. So i am Wondering why these kind of people are still in govt. President Need to take quick Action.

  11. Kathir Oddisuttan

As reps from Mullaitivuu people, we have already told MP Basil that we only want new MP Sri Ranga to come to our area as he was the only genuine person from current political pool. Others just come here to do politics ‘on our blood’, we had enough with these people. This MP does not expect anything in return for everything he does for us, from school services through sports to re-development works. He seems happy with the ‘self satisfaction’ he gains from the service. My brother living in Batti also told me the same – he does a lot for the area, but without contesting in elections there. But Batti and Jaffna people flock his office asking representations, we see this all the times we go to colombo.

    • Sri Ranga appears with Namal Jajapakse and the President in media photos in sri lanka and abroad. Though UNP, he has joined the band of dissidents who joined the government and thus enabled the 18th amendment.
Thus he has clout through the top persons in the UPFA. It was reported that he wishes to become chief minister of either north or east. He is now shrewdly ‘nursing the larger electorate’ for which tamil MPs are powerless to do anything as they are being sidelined from all decision making process.
Rishad has same ambition, but he has antogonised many politicians and civilians in the north and east. We will see who triumphs.

RISHARD’S MONKEY BUSINESSES ARE WELL KNOWN TO US. THIS IS ONLY A FRACTION BROTHER,,,, ASK FISHERMEN IN MANNAR OR PUTTALAM, THEY WILL OPENLY TELL YOU ABOUT HIS FRIENDS IN HEROIN AND KANJA BUSINESSES WITH INDIAN BOAT PEOPLE.. SHAME ON U GOVT SENIOR MPS, U HAVE A BIG CLEARING TASK TO PERFORM BEFORE EVEN THINKING ABOUT MASSIVE DEVELOPMENTS..

  13. THEVI, JAFFNA UNI

My sister who lived in the Vavuniya camp doing first-aid was so upset with this Rishard MP who she said touched her few times intentionally during an official meeting. Her supervisor also accepted this, when my sister complained about it. They spend government money and try to exploit our poverty and helplessness to gain ‘xual’ advantages, thinking we’ll budge to their wishes. He also told the lady supervisor, he can take her out of the camps, if she corporates…LG elections – here we go, he comes again…TO EXPLOIT US.. THIS TIME WE ARE GUIDED BY A REALLY INTELLIGENT GUY RANGA MP..SO NO WORRY, HE WILL FIX HIM! HE FIXED RANIL THE ‘FOX’ ALSO.. LOL!

  14. He well deserves this hammering.
He hid all truth to the foreign visitors to the IDP’s, to save the government.
You can’t escape the ONE who is watching from above.

  15. Tamil watchdog

There were several complains from Tamil medical assisting staff in the Vavuniya camps regarding sexual exploitations (touching, verbal inducement etc) of this Rishard minister and his hoolies visiting camps submitted to the Rehab Ministery Secretary & GA by Sri Ranga MP’s secretary. May be he is taking revenge now.

  16. Ginadasa Ginigaddarage

this reminds the village folk story of the lizzard and the golden neckless

  17. koshil gunesekaram

What is this story? Please let us know.

  18. THEVI, JAFFNA UNI

We tamils don’t know this storey.. so can you tell the storey please?
    Don’t tell us that:
A Lizzard (TNA) who always visit the house (Electorate – Mullativu) during the night time (Election time) in order to catch/steal the insects/golden necklesses (votes), got a life time lesson by the new house owner (Ranga MP) who rippped it apart stating ENOUGH IS ENOUGH FOR YOU CHEATER(S), LETS LEAVE THE POOR INSECTS ALONE TO HAVE A NORMAL BEAUTIFUL LIFE WHICH THEY DESERVE!

  19. EMMA

mr Ranga u are the only one can do something for the tamil people . you know thr needs so go ahead Victory will be yours
