Prabhakaran’s Mother’s Ashes Desecrated

Following the cremation of Parvathi Amma on Tuesday, February 22, the ashes were awaiting the ritual collection the next day. During the night an unidentified group had desecrated the ashes by shooting three dogs on the cremation spot. The murdered dogs were then laid on the ashes which had been scattered on the floor.
The Sunday Leader contacted former TNA MP, M. K. Sivajilingam, the organiser of the funeral, for clarification on the incident. He explained that at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, the cremation of Parvathi Amma took place, the proceedings ended and everyone had left by 10 p.m.
He added that ‘when we returned the next day we found the ashes had been thrown all over the place, while three dogs had been killed on the spot of the cremation.’ He went on to state that they cleaned up the mess and continued with the religious rituals. When asked about the involvement of the military, he denied that they ‘accused the military of having any role’. He went on to say that he believed this was the actions of an anti-LTTE group. He condemned this act stating that it was wanton disregard of the rights of a private citizen.
Following the accusations of military involvement in the desecration of the ashes, students from the Jaffna University boycotted their classes on Wednesday, February 23. The Sunday Leader contacted the Jaffna University for a comment. A spokesperson claimed that ‘the students had left the campus at 12 p.m. on Wednesday. They however, returned to classes the next day.’ He refused to comment on the desecration.
The Sunday Leader contacted Military Spokesman Major General Ubhaya Medawala for comment. He denied that there was any involvement on the part of the military. He further stated that ‘the reports of harassment by the military of all those attending the funeral are fabricated’. When asked about who would have had access to firearms to kill the dogs, he stated that he did not know.
The Sunday Leader contacted Government Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella for a comment on the incident. He reiterated the Military Spokesman’s comments that the military did not have any role in this incident. He further added that ‘this was a private affair and as such neither the military nor the government had any role’.

I am not sure what the perpetrators thought when thy did this but they have no regard for dignity. During the battle time to time LTTE captured SLA soldiers. They always treated them with dignity. Even during the final battle LTTE released all captives. When ever they handed over bodies of SL soldiers they always try to maintain the dignity to the dead as they always believed that the war is over only for the dead. But seem like it is not so even for the old lady.
May be who ever did this did not realise that the enemies could be heroes too. If you claim that your Rana Veeraya fought for the country please respect the fact that the LTTE soldier fought for what he believed in. If you think your pilot was brave to fly MIG fighters, think how hard it is to fly a single engine plan over and over again with no AIR – AIR capabilities only armed two crude bombs. What if LTTE desecrated the body of army soldiers ? you would have called the barbarians, now what do I call you?

This is the work of Tamils to get international attention again and show that the Sinhalese are villains. They are again trying to disrupt the normal life of civilians in the North. If you dont write their motive will not be served. Without paying a cent they are getting free publicity again. Media publicity is the oxygen on which tigers survived. Our history books say that When King Ellala was killed King Dutugemunu not only ensured a proper last rights to him but also build a monument and ordered every one who passed that way to walk bare foot in respect of the dead king. The present so called Dutugemunus have brought disgrace for the great king. I remember president saying that Prabaharan was the only enemy and not his kith and kins. So why didn’t he order an investigation on the matter ? There is also a saying that you should not talk ill about the people who are dead because they are already gone and no among us. So how do you justify this act ? All these are bad omen and the future generation of the people who have committed such an act will be cursed for sure.
Whoever did it is barbaric and very uneducated. These people need to go back to school and taught how to treat human beings and animals. with respect and dignity. Now, the government is aware of the situation, need to spend money to re-educate this kind of guys that exists in Sri Lanka.
