Unusual Sea Erosion

As reported in the news, there is unusual sea erosion in the Wellawatte – Bambalapitiya areas, even during the North East monsoon period.

It is mother nature that decides on our coast line formation taking into consideration  the currents and other factors, bringing an equilibrium. When we cause huge intrusions on our coastline disregarding these factors, mother nature takes action to fill these up and bring a balance to the situation once again. To do this obviously other places have to be eroded. I hope our recent such intrusions do not cost us our lovely beaches on the Western coast. If so, what a tragedy.
