Open Letter To Defence Secretary
Mr. Rajapaksa, it is indeed very nice to see the City of Colombo sans piles of garbage, with plant troughs appearing along the pavements. Colombo is beginning to look like the Western cities that I used to admire, during my trips abroad.
Congratulations! Please keep up the good work.
I write on behalf of the residents of Elvitigala Flats, Manning Town Flats and Trillium Residences in connection with the regular ‘drag racing’ that takes place between midnight and 2.00 am every Saturday night along Elvitigala Mawatha/Baseline Road. This is causing immense disturbance to all of us.
We feel that it would be useless to complain to the Borella Police; as if the culprits are the sons of some VIPs, then no action would be taken by the OIC for fear of transfer.
I am sure that you will help us in this matter by giving the order to ensure that these vehicles, modified to cause maximum noise pollution, is stopped forthwith.
Mrs. M. de Zilva

The city is looking nice however, where did all the poor folks who made their living on the streets go?? were they tortured and killed too?
Mrs Semba-kutti whatever
Why are you bothered now ? Did you even lift a finger to help the “poor folks” out of their situation in the past ?
I would imagine not since if you did, they would not have been there in the first place.
People like you conspired to keep them in that situation and now shedding crocodile-tears..
Those people could be re-located with modern facitities in areas near by Colombo city. A model multy-storey buildings(12 storey for an example) should be designed and constructed. There are enough professionals to give assistance to the GOSL in this regard with-in the Colombo city itself.
